Not sure if there's one of these started already, but it's still pretty far off, so I thought I'd make one. Have any of you guys taken the TEAS yet? If not, where are you taking it? I didn't see any dates listed for GSU.
Guys dont worry about the classes you havnt completed. As a matter of fact, i know all about the point system and how they use it to calculate who will get in. I wrote it ALL out on a previous semester post so i am going to find it and copy it onto here. Unfortunately im about to be late for work but i'll be home around 9:30 and i will post it! hang on tight! :)
1. They give up to 12 points for grades (program GPA not overall)
4.0+-12
3.9-3.99-11 pts
3.8-3.89-10 pts
3.7-3.79-9 pts
3.6-3.69-8 pts
3.5-3.59-7 pts
etc.
2. Up to 10 points for TEAS
95+ - 10 pts
90-94 - 9 pts
80-89 - 8 pts
70-70 - 7 pts
etc.
3. Science GPA calculated by: 2 pts for every 'A' earned in a ascience course, 1 point for every 'B'. Add up the points then divide by how many science classes taken. For example, if someone's grades are A&P1-A (2 pts), Chem1-A (2 pts), Micro-A (2 pts) = 2+2+2 = 6 pts. Then 6 pts (divided by) 3 courses taken = 2 pts
4. up to 1 pt for essay
5. up to 1 pt for each recommendation for a total of 2 points.
Im not sure if the # of points for the GPA is a maximum of 12 or 14 points but it doesnt matter, everyone's points would just have an extra 2, which won change how much more a person has than you. But you get my point. This just shows you how they break them apart.
Wow, thank you so much for breaking the process down for us! As for program GPA - does that just include the pre-reqs, or does it also include other core classes, such as US History, etc?
I feel much more comfortable now! Now I can shift my focus to doing well in the rest of A&P... hahah.
Thank you so much svictor! That did help clarify things for me.
Breezy, I think the program GPA (which would include some non-science courses) is considered separately from the grades from your science classes, at least that's the way I understood svictor1's previous post. Therefore, an A in US History would bump up your program GPA (more points), but wouldn't affect the points for your science grades. But an A in A&P would help you with both points for program GPA and science grades. So, separate points for your program GPA, and separate points for your grades in the program science courses.
As for me, back to learning my cranial nerves!
What if you got separate grade for lab and lecture? I know at GSU the science classes are just one grade, lab and lecture combined, but I came in as transfer and I have separate grade for lab and lecture. The nursing program recommend that I retake classes I've gotten "b" to bump my gpa since I've been done will all my pre-req since spring 2011.
I know if you are wait listed or denied they send you a letter telling why you didn't get in. it is broken down to curriculum gpa, science gps, TEAS score. They will check what you need to do to improve your chance of getting in next time around.
Let the stalking of the mailbox continue.

Ditto...just goes to show how much it stinks that admissions is focusing solely on GPA and TEAS scores. Pretty soon, they'll only accept folks with 4.0 GPAs and perfect TEAS scores, which will leave a lot of deserving, dedicated folks on the outside looking in.
