Group One background checks in Texas

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have been put into group one, which is a reporting agency that allows other healthcare facilitys to see why I was terminated. I was not given a chance to resign before termination. My question is, can I request to have it changed? Is this a type of discrimination? all this is making me want to get out of healthcare all together, seems like i will allways have a disadvantage being a guy and all.

Yep,

You really ahve to stay on tehm!

When I got my "file" from Group One, I found so many errors it was scary.

They were saying I had worked at 4 Dallas hospitals I had never even entered. They also said I was a resp therapist, EKG tech and a nurse. I am none of those. I was also listed as abandoning jobs

Know your rights and keep these folks in line.

Ok, I know all about Group One in DFW. But what about Greenville? We're thinking about moving there when I'm done with school. Anyone know if the hospitals up there use GroupOne? (Greenville, Texas)

Thanks

I've never heard of any of the small towns or anything outside of DFW using Group One, but apparantly they have plans to spread to other areas.

Greenville is too far away and I doubt that anyone out that way uses Group One, at least at the present time.

i have been an rn/bsn for 26 years. of that 26 years was a "nursing leader" for the first 11 years. i am an exemplary citizen, a member of sigma theta tau, cum laude graduate, mother of 2 college educated offspring.

however, in the state of texas, i was arrested and convicted for the crime of not wearing a seatbelt. now i am having an impossible time getting my "record" cleared and as a traveler i am classified as a criminal. all i can say to anyone out there is stay out of texas. the bne in texas is focused on negative disciplinary action. all one has to do is read their newsletter. the concentration is on revoking licences, punishment, and negativity. unfortunately, my "criminal" history will follow me around. that's texas.

an old colleague of mine served on the tx bne for several years. he would agree with these statements about the bne being ruthless.

another colleague/friend of mine recently had to face the bne and fight false charges from our old employer.

luckily she was merely slapped on the wrist (even though she did nothing wrong) but it was a living nightmare for over an entire year of her life.

it's amazing the power your employer has over you if you disagree with them when they have group one and the bne on their side.

That's good to hear.

Why can't we RN's in Texas present our concerns to the TX BNE about Group One? How can we all get together to form a "class action" for professionals?

Specializes in Home care, assisted living.

My parents are thinking of moving to Texas and have tried to talk the rest of us family members into moving there. Now that I've seen this thread...

Remind me never to work in a Texas hospital, ever. :smackingf

:coollook: If you want to stay in the south and practice, I would stay away from Texas. After working here I can only say it is a hell for nurses beyond what we have to deal with in delivering care.:crying2: :crying2:

So, GroupOne pretty much covers the whole state? That's terrible!!

No, they are only used by hospitals in the DFW area.

I've asked around and have yet to meet anyone in the Houston area who has even heard of them.

On this BB, I've asked nurses from San Antonio, Corpus, Amarillo, etc. and no one yet has reported use of Group One in these areas.

But...I've been hearing that they have plans to spread their practice, perhaps even to other states so even those of you in GA may not ev entually be able to escape it.

Not used here in Austin either.
