Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
@Winterwhite, I am so not shy about asking for help in any way shape or form. So those tutoring services will be getting used quite often LOL I myself have not written a paper in forever and have no clue whats an abstract, thesis, or summary statement is. How embarrassing LOL:unsure:
I found after the first 5 weeks I was mostly using them as a safety net, I have not used them in a while, you will start writing these things in your sleep...unfortunately. I have the opposite problem, I am way too wordy, most of my papers have to be cut in half. I nearly want to shed tears over all those pretty words "hitting the cutting floor". One of the students in my first CLC called and was freaking out because she couldn't hit the 750 word count I'm like huh...I got 1500!
@Winterwhite, how do you copy a section into Google to check for plagiarism? I'm not that computer savy yet LOL:no:
Just put your cursor at the beginning of a section and copy, then paste it into the google search and hit search. Copy this into google--->A flower sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found (it will take you directly to a wiki link).
That makes me feel better because that is what I have been using in this second class! I had been copying and pasting to my template. I use a Macbook and haven't noticed any issues so far with the template. That's another reason why I switched to the template because if I tried editing any little thing on the PERRLA reference page something would go haywire and I couldn't figure out what I was inputting wrong in the generator which is why I was manually editing the references. How did you become PERRLA proficient?
I have no problems with my Mac either, and I only opened that on my desktop (which I will be replacing with a Mac when I can afford it!) Hmmm....
I have a risk for diagnosis on a patient that is at risk for infection (her husband had an affair). Is it just Risk for infection as evidenced by... or is there a related to part as well? And then I have my NOC, NIC, and characteristics....am I missing anything?

Have you taken statistics? Did you use your Mac or PC? Some students were having trouble with excel on their Mac so I'm worried about stats

I can't say anything about the NOC/NIC etc. since I'm only in Family Health but I was taught in nursing school that only wellness diagnoses do not have related to factors. For risk diagnoses there are the related to factors but there is no evidenced by/manifesting symptoms because they do not have the issue yet. A patient at risk for impaired skin integrity doesn't already have skin breakdown. Their diagnosis would be risk for impaired skin integrity related to urinary incontinence etc. If they did already have skin breakdown the diagnoses would be impaired skin integrity, risk for infection, etc. HTH. I thought maybe you made a typo and switched the related to/evidenced by but wasn't sure so there's my two cents!

@Winterwhite28 LOL i just tried it and it worked. That's amazing!

I have not taken stats yet. That is either next or the one after. I take breaks between every few classes. I hope for no glitches. Math is my Achilles heel. Ugh!

Thanks. I knew that but my head is bursting with this assignment. Reading your response made me sound somewhat like Homer Simpson. And I really try not to do that.
Question? How many of you have had a family death for a member in your CLC group? As of today I am batting 100%. Literally! Every single group! Is it a record or what?
