Travel Nurse Offer. Yea or Nea? Anyone with experience please help!
How many years old is this thread? I only ask because $15 an hour seems ridiculously low....I get offers for $40-$45 am hour plus $1000 weekly stipend....the lowest I've seen was before I got my RN, when I was an LPN, and even then the offer was like $25 an hour....now with all of that being said, I have to mention I've never actually accepted the offers and gone on an assignment....that's hopefully about too change as I plan to begin traveling within the next 30 days....someone please explain these rates...I know it can vary depending on state, etc...I'm in Las Vegas...assignments have been all over, mostly small rural towns in states like North Dakota. Alaska..

Putting myself at your mercy...
Yeah you are right , I forgot to figure in the on call staff , but as far as regular staffing that works , well at least that's how my hospice does It

Putting myself at your mercy...
Yeah it seems like you are overstaffed higher up on the ladder...you don't need a DON and a ADON...2 field nurses for 30 patients is good..that is 15 patients per case load...and you could reduce down to just 1 LVN..you would need 3-4 CNAs for that type of census, since most patients require more CNA visits than they do NRSG visits...... So 1 ADMIN 1 DON 1 office administrative assistant (answer phones and do office work..about $18-25/hr) 2 RNs 1 LVN 3 CNAs 2 SWs 2 chaplains and so forth..when you get to a census of 45 then you can hire a clinical coordinator and another field RN...try to keep the RN's case load around 15, that is reasonable and they can provide better care than if they had a higher load, such as 20.

Are online ANP degrees destroying our credibility?
What online NP program did you do? Despite everyone's negative comments on here about online schooling, I am considering an online program...can you message me?

applied to kaplan Rn to Msn Fnp program
Hello, I am also considering Kaplan..I am graduating June 3rd from Kaplan College in Las Vegas and have a tentative start date for July 30th into their online RN-MSN program. I also would like to then do the FNP certification...So how are classes going? Are they doable? Super hard? Any info at all would be great...I have been reading a lot of mixed reviews; therefore, I have a lot of reservations about giving Kaplan so much money.. Jessica

Let's talk $$ for hospice. (Idea lifted from Agency nursing)
I am an LPN and I work for a hospice...I do everything the RN does except pronounce and do admissions.. my pay is the following $23 an hour; then will be $33 an hour in 2months after I finish RN school (about 68,000 a year) $5 an hour on call (equates to quite a bit because I do friday from 1700-monday 0800) 0.56 cents a mile $40 per on call visit rate

Anyone getting their NP certification through Kaplan University?
Hello, My name is Jessica, I have been an LPN for nearly five years and I am finally finishing up my RN June 3rd, 2014. I am eager to quickly go back to school and am thinking about going to Kaplan for their RN-MSN program. Then after that, I would like to do their FNP specialization. Where I get my BSN heavily depends on if they have a good NP program. From what I understand, the program is affordable and accredited by a couple of different agencies. I have read some threads on here, but I can't find any pertinent information. (People seem to go off in tangents and I have even seen nurses ridicule each other on this site, which seems a little unbecoming for people in the nursing profession, but I guess we are still human). I would like to know the following: Has anyone done the ANP or FNP online program through Kaplan? How was it? Did you complete the program or are you still working on it? How are the class in terms of difficulty? I know all nursing is somewhat difficult, however, compared to my fellow nursing students, I felt that the LPN and the RN wasn't all that bad. How do employers feel about NP that obtain their education primarily online? How long did it take you to do it? I know this will vary, I just want to hear some of your experiences.. If you are an NP and did not go to Kaplan and did an online program, where did you go? What would you recommend? Thanks in Advance, Jessica
