  1. I see everyone has attempted to breakdown the fnp vs acnp debate..my question is where does the Agnp and the AG-ACNP play into this. So an AG- ACNP. I have been told by my hospital education department can do in patients or outpatient over the age of 13. How do you guys see them occupying this role?
  2. Was lpn for 5 years finished excelsior adn in Jan 2010 became RN. Prior to finishing the Excelsior program I worked as a licensed practical nurse in nursing homes.when I became a registered nurse I got a job in ICU at a small community hospital.after working there for a year I got a job at a larger hospital the Cleveland Clinic I am on an orthopedic telemetry unit.I recently finished my bachelors degreefrom Kaplan University and I will be starting my acute care nurse practitioner program in September at Walden University I have never had any issues being a graduate of Excelsior College....actually most nurses and management that I encounter believe that Excelsior nurses are very particular and goal oriented to finish a self-study program they possess a desire and passion to finish a self study programI just wanted to add that last year i was a finalist for nurse of the year at my hospital... not bad for an Excelsior grad
  3. Well I am cc employee I just completed my bsn last week while working ft. I am not understanding how come you must go part time in order to complete bsn. Are you currently an RN?
  4. Ds stands for double strength an example is bactrim which also has a bactrim ds antibiotic
  5. just wanting you to keep in mind that medical surgical nursing is based on the abnormalities of anatomy and physiology. if you don't understand me you are severe disadvantage for instance if you understand anatomy and the endocrine system. .you also can readily comprehend diabetes. I work on a surgical unit there are many nurses who started as a new grad who did not know where the gallbladder was located they did not know its function but they were taking care of patients who had gallbladder removal
  6. Wv-rn. .thanks ..I did originally start the application process at ohio university buy could not continue per the admissions coordinator u til my bsn I'd complete and deferred. I am scheduled to compete my bsn in 2 weeks. It takes about 30 days to confer the degree. She said at earliest it would he starting in January but more realistically in the summer. I am done with this bsn and I would like to Continue this year instead of next year
  7. Well an update. .As you know I started the rn to msn fnp at kaplan in January 2013. Well I will be completed the bsn portion in july. Graduation in Chicago on the 27th of july. The msn portion begins on July 30th.
  8. I was a LPN six years before I became a registered nurse. as far as compensation for becoming a registered nurse for your time as a LPN usually depends on the employer. in 2009 when I became a registered nurse 2 years LPN was 1 year of RN experience for pay purposes. but I have noticed now in 2012 none of your years as a lpn nurse count for pay purposes. this is mostly due to the economy being so bad and employers trying to save money I am currently in Ohio and I work for the Cleveland Clinic which is supposedly the four number for hospital in the country
  9. Thanks. I will use better grammar next time. I actually used my speech to text application on my phone to send that message. Next time I will just type it myself.
  10. Hello everyone I recently applied to the Kaplan RN to MSN and family nurse practitioner program I have been told that the program will be approximately 4&a half years so far seems like it's going to be a great program currently I am associates degree register nurse this program will allow me to obtain my Bachelors of Science in Nursing is well if my Masters of Science in Nursing as well as certification as a family nurse practitioner as far as the cost yes I might be a tad bit pricey for the RN to BSN portion all of the books are included with tuition but for the BSC into the Masters the tuition does not cover the books I am so excited my intentions are to start the 30th of January
