  1. You have anger issues, you have control issues, and you have just ... issues. Your posts speak for themselves.
  2. Nasty. I am so far only the second (known) advocate for CNAs, that are treated like hell. If others might consider a pause in their 'holier than thouness'? I ask you: what is the real reason that aides rebel? Same as the slaves. Sad. There's a reason most SNFs are so crappy- and if I may be so bold, it's from nurses that are on power trips (nurse that sukc on any level) so they LIVE to trample upon those less fortunate then themselves. Sick.
  3. When the vent comes off- is that patient now going to get OOB, walk around, be independent with ADLs, or be able improve with them, maybe with skilled therapy? Is the trach itself permament? What is the total picture? Was the trach/vent a temporary thing from an accident, a surgery? Is that patient moribund/bedbound, normally, so the vent really has no effect on his physical functional status, or overall medical status or prognosis?
  4. Do I understand you correctly?: Dingbat day nurse always arrives a half hour late. Then she has to do her make up. By then, I've missed the window to get on the road before rush hour, which adds another 30 minutes to my drive, when I'm already about to pass out from exhaustion?
  5. You don't really sleep when you work nights, you pass out as someone said. It's never a refreshing sleep. You always crave sleep- is justnever goes away, that tearning to sleep. Ever think of cutting back to 4 days? Maybe you can get 3 days off in a row. Then you might rethink things. Most places seem to consider 32 hours a week as full time for benefits.
  6. You started out c/o that you have no life. You ended by saying you don't need a life. And with depression, if you are on meds, nights will make you ill. Also, you won't be sleeping with your husband. It sounds alluring- to have the daytime off, but night shifts are gruesome for most people. You never sleep right. You'll be weak, dizzy, confused, and always wanting and thinking 'I just want to sleep' so your daytimes will be distracting. Read all these replies- they all talk about sleep. I'll suggest you work those 12 hour nights shift for two weeks, before you give up yout 3-11. You'll be in for a suprise.
  7. Check my new post in this section, about 'writing people up'. You'll get a laugh, at the same time being aware of the seriousness of what you have posted, in here.
  8. I am blown away by so many people that have no problem at all with the continued loss of privacy. The thing is= you have 'no' idea, NONE, what may happen in thre future due to anyone having your medical record. Being ashamed is 'not even' relevant to this OP's original dilemna.
  9. Get your posting numbers up and I'll message you an answer to your predicament.
  10. They call it 'practicing medicine without a license', which is a felony. Yes- everywhere nurses are allowed to use (unspoken/unwritten) discretion- but to determine what labs to draw on a form, without an order, is a tad risque?
  11. I once did finally lose it. The medical director, SNF, a real *****. Obnoxious, foul, and 'incompetent'. If you called this ***** a second after 5PM, he would cuss you out, insult you, and spend 5 minutes on a psychotic rant about 'calling me at all hours of the day and night', ad naseum. Couldn't stand him, and I made that clear. He made me want to vomit, not to mention he fancied himself quite the stud. Ick. Got a patient on Friday, came in the door at 5:05PM. Called this ***** for admit orders. In the middle of his rant, I told him "Either you are, or are not the doctor for this patient. Either you will, or will not give me admit orders- and if not? You need to RESIGN. I'm sick of you, every OTHER nurse is sick of you, and most of your patients DESPISE your arrogance. Now that I told you that- you can either give me orders, or not- and come what may, I do not need to work here. When I hang up, I'm going to the DON, to tell her what I just said to you- trust me, I'm not intimidated by you whatsoever. No more of this, period". He gave me the orders and slammed the phone down. I told the DON what happened. Nothing came of it- and his attitude changed BIG time.
  12. Everybody likes to be appreciated....
  13. RIGHT answer!
  14. Did you sign for the txs you did not complete? If not, what did you do about the tx record? Leave it blank?
  15. In fact, if you think about it- when you go to the offices, there's always a line of people waiting to see the DON (staff, and outside visitors, case managers, phone ringing, etc.)- but the poor ADMIN is usually alone at his desk, shuffling papers, trying to look busy. It's not a very interesting job, at least not if the place runs smoothly. Some ADMINS need more excitement, so they interfere with the DONs business. Also, few people 'work for' the ADMIN, most staff 'work for' the DON. Make sense?
