Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

The first to post is the automatic leader! LOL!

Pandora and I fell for that waaay to many times. We'd have conversations like this:

Pandora: Prof. Smart posted our color groups. Should we post?

Tokmom: I don't know. Has anyone else shown up? Who's in our group?

Pandora: Suzy Q is one of them and you see how she slacks off on her DQ. You know she won't show.

Tokmom: I can't stand this. I want to get this organized now!

Pandora: But you post FIRST it makes you the leader..

Tokom: I know, but it drives me nuts to wait for someone to show up and post. What if nobody does until the very end?

And so it goes. One of us always posted later that day. :sniff:

I don't think I like you right now Tokmom....LOL

I posted a hello, here is my contact information. Only one other person has posted their hello, but no contact information. The silence is deafening!

I probably will post and do it, but really didn't want to this time! Thing is we need to have our CLC completed by Wednesday. HELLOooooooooooo did anyone else in the group read that??

Right now working on baffling with fecal matter with what seems absolutely rediculious - writing an abstract about abstracts!

Well, I thought so too... and waited for others to start posting. So, one lady posts 'hello!" and dissappears for rest of the week! At the end of ends, I became informal leader (they were saying to me - maybe you will call/text people from the group to give them assignment?) and a burro who was doing all organizational/finishing/polishing/proofreading/editing work. LOL! It's all about us :) Some can't stand disorganization and uncertainty, but others feel just OK with it.

Nursing leaderhip and management is next. Anyone taken this class? Can you recommend instructors? Intro to research is after that, and would love to know if you can recommend anyone for that class as well. I don't get on here too often, and will probably be even less now that my mom was just diagnosed with cancer and I'm going to start a new PRN position as well...My head is spinning trying to manage my life right now!

But posting hi, isn't a true post, such as asking people how this is all going to come together. That's when you've sucked down the hook and bait. LoL!!

Geez, I don't miss that crap

I hated when people were too busy. Yeah, like nobody else is. What they mean is the school work isn't priority.

Sending you mine....just so you know the teacher for me, may not be the same for you, I think we have all learned that. Oh and keep your resume to a page.

So after talking to my SSA, I realized that my order of classes was out of the order they should be taken in. I am going through the course with a friend/coworker and after calling many times to ask them to make sure our classes were in synch and for same section, someone moved the classes around to keep us in synch. I don't need stats, she does but she doesn't need 451V, so they just moved that one up for me. If I took 451V before spirtuality, ethics, and research would it be a problem? Is there anything in those classes that I need to know for 451V? Currently I'm signed up for a week LOA, but we'll be out of synch when it comes to 451V if I take it when it's traditionally taken. Plus, with my mom's new diagnosis I don't want to "waste" a LOA in case I need it later.

In my opinion, I think you would be ok.
