Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

So it is a miracle, we got 99% on the CLC project. I know that was not all A work so I'm guessing she gave us a break. There was no file with corrections attached like there was for my first paper though.

On another subject, it sounds like I need some advise on instructors judging from the previous post. How many posts before I get PM on here?

I think it's 15, so maybe one more.

I didn't get a file with corrections attached either for the power point project. I am amazed that you got a grade back so soon. It only took a couple days, right? My instructor took a week to grade.

I think we are one week apart. I am on my 5th week in NRS-430V.

Not sure about the grading system. Maybe they grade easy for the first class. I didn't think our work was worth a 99% either. Maybe 90-92......

It took a week for our essay to be graded, I totally didn't expect a grade today for the CLC. So I agree they probably grade easier the first class, but some of our slides were really bad. Some had no speaker notes, no APA, just cut and pasted from a website. Oh well, I'm not complaing. So yeah I just started week 4. I thought everyone here was way ahead of me. Cool.

I think they grade very easy in the first class. The expectations seemed to ramp up after stats.

I need to clarify what I said.....I literally had a nightmare, sorry to confuse you all. I would be fuming if I lost those kind of points! :)

Am I talkin' to the hand?? Hehe. I look back at my earlier work and think they were easy on me. It's later that I had a professor expect at least a 12th grade writing level, would dock for using the word "it" instead of giving the whatever it is a name, and getting harped on for APA.

Sometimes I think those CLC are to see if we can all get along without killing each other and it has nothing to do with the assignment. Though once were docked 5 points because we forgot to indent a paragraph. I was one of the editors and boy did I feel like an idiot not catching that one.

Which class are you having trouble in with these clc students and instructor? Pm me please!

Regarding the attached file(s) for graded projects - this seems to be instructor preference. Some I've had just type in the Comments box and that's IT (didn't even do the dots on the rubric, left that blank), some type their comments on the bottom of your paper (see if you now have an 8pg paper instead of the 7pg one you submitted, comments might be down there), and for the powerpoints, I've had this returned two ways: either the teach added an extra slide and wrote their comments on the new slide, or they used the comments feature to make notations throughout the document. So when you open the ppt, make sure your "comments" feature is enabled (lower right hand corner down there somewhere).

I am torn on how I feel about this, which I am suspecting happens more often than we think it does. I've never heard of anyone yet completely tanking a CLC.

Good: We all get good grades on these sub-par projects.

Bad: All this does is reinforce the slackers' opinions that some of us are Type A's and should stop stressing over it.

The question then becomes, do we ourselves turn into slackers because experience has shown us that typically these projects, no matter how craptastic they are, still seem to get good grades? Or, do we worry that the next instructor may not be such an easy grader and since we don't want to chance it, bust the butt and give ourselves bleeding ulcers by Saturday?

I hate to say this, and don't banish me from the island for this, but I have to wonder if the slackers have not just made their point...
