Hi everyone, I am looking into possibly doing the Rn to BSN program at Grand Canyon University online but am scared it may not be looked at as favorably as a degree from another university like Cal state university Long beach which is actually in my area (but a way longer road). I would like some input from those that have been hired in California or any nurse managers or people that actually take part in the hiring process at hospitals. Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone.Hi have you started the RN BSN program at GCU? I was wondering exactly what you said here. I am a CA resident and I will be a local person (not move to any other states in the future) Anyway, California hospital recognition to GCU is important. it is accredited in California, right?

Both are state school are cheaper and higher ranked. Also check into csu dominguez hills, cheaper and convenient program. Just my two cents.
sweetkimchi 63 Posts Jan 23, 2014 Spunj13,Thank you for your reply! I have been appplying to Cal state, then there are required prerequisites and long waiting time to start. I know I have kids and family, so I want to get it started soon and means finish early. you sound right though, I briefly contacted csu Dominquez and looked through their website, it is expensive tuition online about $ 500 per unit unlike Cal state Univ which is cheap.

Spunj13 22 Posts Jan 23, 2014 Are you still in California because csudh should have in state tuition? Even if you aren't in California still I believe you can get in state tuition if you graduated from a California high school. CSUF and csudh are the only csu programs I know of that have affordable online degrees in California. I personally can't recommend going to GCU for the fact that it's so expensive. I suggest also talking to western governors university. It's cheap, convenient and quick.

I have been given a fabulous experience and I have learned so much! I am an expert at APA papers now. I am really surprised that researching and writing all of these papers has been so beneficial but it has given me a wealth of knowledge. The classes are really fast paced but I have had some great instructors. Some better than others but all really great! I had a friend that had one bad instructor and she was a realth B but other than that I have not experienced any issues with teachers. A couple have been slow in posting grades but most comply with the university policy on class deadlines. Overall the experience has been wonderful. I was a little reserved when I first started because of all the negatives I had read online but I think these people must not have applied themselves because the courses are doable and the teachers have been very helpful and encouraging with my experience.
beppieRN 7 Posts May 17, 2014 Hi Everyone! I am an RN in CA and I have been researching which online RN to BSN program to go with. I am so frustrated! There is so much to research and I feel like I am going around in circles. Any and all advice welcome please! I too am concerned with cost and also a program being approved in CA but, if I'm already licensed in CA with my RN/ADN, why does it matter if a BSN program is "approved" by CA? It's not like I need to sit for the NCLEX again.
