Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I think someone on here stated that one can't double up on classes right away?? No clue if that is true or not. Not sure why not as the first few are pretty straight forward.

I'm in no hurry to finish! Just had a month off and will probably take more time off after this class. But everyone's situation is different.

I think it is because they want to make sure you are academically successful before they allow you to double up. When I asked my advisor said I could with my grades .

I think a lot depends on which prof u get! Seems some have more work to do than others! I'm in Research right now---no group project, but someone else stated that they had a group project in it!!

Hmm, I don't believe I had one in research. The teachers I have right now seem to not really care about the assignments. I am getting 100%'s on everything no matter the effort I put into something

You must not have had the same instructors that Prism, Pandora and I have had, and we consider ourselves fairly decent writers. I can't say I had perfect scores the entire way through.

This is only for the 2 classes I am in now. Otherwise I didn't have perfect scores. I received all A's as final grades, but not 100%'s on everything.

Flames, did you clarify with your Research instructor and verify there is NO CLC? I start on Monday 4/7 but can view my LC class now, and indeed, week 5 does not have a CLC in the calendar, and the assignment dropbox for week 5 also does not state it (which means we're absent a rubric...), BUT, if you open up the actual syllabus week 5 has TWO assignments - the PICO worth 100 pts, and a CLC PowerPoint worth 150 pts. Let me know what your instructor says, I'm hoping the syllabus is an old one and they've updated the actual classroom to exclude it??? (hoping...hoping....) But I doubt it, the total pts avail for that week are 290 and otherwise it just doesn't add up - unless they're going to give us 150 pts for DQs! LOL

I wrapped up and submitted my last paper for Leadership!! Now I have a well deserved 2 week break (which will be spent finding some more research articles) and then CAPSTONE!! :D

Just my opinion, but I'm reeeally glad that Leadership is over. It reinforced in my brain the reason why I will never, EvEr be a manager. It was interesting, I learned a lot of the drier side of nursing, but sheesh, that was a lonnnnng class.

Congratulations, tokmom!! 1 class left!!! I am just finishing week 4 of leadership (and trends) I am not looking to become a manager ever. No thank you. It isn't my style either. I am not looking forward to that last paper. Maybe I should just start it. And probably look for more research articles for Capstone...

oh yes--once I click on the syllabus it states a CLC project! I see on our roster list--we have NOT yet been put into groups....Maybe it wil be an individual thing, sounds easy enough

I never found the CLC project difficult, just labor intensive, especially when you are a control freak and have to do the editing because you trust nobody but yourself and one other person.:cautious:

I'm sooooo glad to have those done!!!

JRich..The advice given to me was to start getting articles together, so I did. The most difficult part was meeting the criteria, especially the age of the research. I found some excellent articles, but they were one year too old.:banghead:

Yeah, the CLC for research wasn't difficult, IMO. I did the proposed changes, so had to wait till everyone else was done with their stuff to do mine.

Yeah, my stress came from waiting for others and praying they gave me quality stuff to work with.

I have a friend who goes to a local University and has online classes. She actually drove 2 hours to collect the information from one classmate for a project, because the person wasn't sending it to her quickly enough. She helped the person gather the proper references and such. She said it was easier to drive and help than to sit and wait.
