Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I wish I could totally cuss on this website!! REALLY?? This would have been useful information for, oh, I dunno, my entire program?!? I never knew this existed (mines' in the upper left hand corner), I just tried it, typed in "industry vs. inferiority", and at first nothing came up but then I changed that search bubble thing from Title Results to Content Results. Not only did it zero in on the book it's in, you just keep clicking each next hyperlink to the chapter and then to the page number and it takes you right to that page in that book and even highlights your phrase?!

I simply cannot even fathom how many hours per week this would have saved me clicking page-forward, page-backward, scroll scroll scroll, Control F, nope, page-forward, scroll scroll scroll, Control F...

FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, I'm not happy. cuss cuss cuss! :dead:

Sorry I thought you knew. Oops! I found that out in desperation on that Health assessment assignment.

That is awesome information to know rob4546! Thank you! And can you message me the name of that terrible teacher? I'm trying to keep my list current. :)

yeah, that's not the first less-than-polite response to a question she's given. I asked for clarification on an earlier assignment, another student provided it, I wrote back thanking her, and then the instructor finally chimed in with "Is everyone clear?!"

Really? Why the exclamation mark?

You really are a 'lope analyzing punctuation markS and all. ROFLOL. :geek: :lol2:

As of last Sunday, I am officially done and have completed my BSN program! whoo hoo!! I was waiting to see my grade on my capstone which was an A-, and I am extremely happy about that! I couldn't have asked for a better instructor who was available and encouraging too! Time to party and sleep, then party some more!!

Congrats!! My prof was super slow at marks..over a week normally to get marks back....but for soem reason super fast in getting the final grades posted, which was nice. Congrats!!

Congratulations Derk!!

Okay, please rescue me! I felt so overwhelmed at starting such an intense program, of course as most of you know I wallowed. Then I started thinking I should just dumb down and do medical transcription at home. Looked for programs. Now, I am revamping my thinking and reconsidering GC. I don't know what is wrong with me, well yes I do. I am 58, and wonder if it will do me any good? Should I start looking for more of a retirement job? IDK.

Any comments appreciated.

I am capable of doing the RN to BSN... just scared and not sure it will be worth it for me.

Only you knows ur work situation.....I know if I was 58 and near retirement, sure would not be dropping $18000 on school, but that is me. I know a few older nurses that the BSN meant a lot to them, even though they were retiring soon. Best of luck

Thanks Flame. See that is were I get so confused. It is on my bucket list. Yet, it is a very expensive item on the list. I appreciate you being candid.

bucket lists are nice to have and check off---but if you don't need the BSN to keep ur job and happy where u are.....$18000 is nice to have for retirement.

Well, I'm in my 50's and I don't consider myself old at all. And I certainly don't let my age stop me from things I want or need.

I don't plan on retiring any time soon, and can't since I'm a primary bread winner. The BSN was on my bucket list AND necessary to survive in a world that is progressing to community health and BSN nurses.

If I want the desk gig later on because I can no longer do med surg, then I'll need my BSN.

I always shake my head when people get hung up on the price of education, but think nothing of driving a brand new car, 20 K. off the lot and not bat an eye at the immediate depreciation.

Education is something that never depreciates.

Only you can make the decision if it's the right thing to do. We can't make it for you.

Sorry if I sound so cold, but you have waffled on this for close to a year, and could have been near the end of the program by now.

I have said before that you seem too hung up on this age thing, to the point of obsession. I hope you don't let your "age"" hold you back in other aspects of your life. :(
