Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Thanks for all the advice on my current paper. I ended up just stating the recommendations produced from the study, some of the key points made, and the stated limitations of the study. I liked the outline/guideline for the critical review but somewhere shouldn't we talk about the study and if the results were valid? Funny thing is I need to add like 60 words to make the minimum. This is the first paper I have ever worried about making the minimum number of words!
So is this the same thing we do for all our articles in our capstone project? With 15 total articles this will be a 15,000 + word paper!
I did my Cap project on something I was familiar with, which I believe was good advice from the instructors. It made it easier for me to find articles and write the paper itself because I was familiar with the lingo and I basically knew how it would come out before I even started. However, in retrospect, it might have been more interesting to take on a subject that I had absolutely no experience in so I could learn somethng new and fascinating that might actually propel the field of medicine and nursing forward. I ran across an article on CNN tonight that intrigued me, and now I wish I had done my project on this! Oh yeah, if I had a do-over, and if I had seen this article to spark my imagination a couple of months ago, I totally would have done this instead. I know Telemedicine isn't exactly new, but the ways they are applying it is. I think about all those near-homebound people that wait and wait and wait to go to the doctor and before you know it it's 3 weeks later and they're calling 911. I'm an insurance nurse, so this subject would have fit right in with my job (somehow, haven't figured it out exactly yet), so I could have applied it to something somewhat familiar yet learned about a whole `nother world while I was at it. And wasn't that the whole point of the Cap? To open our eyes to the importance of investigating new ways of doing things to advance our profession while we improve outcomes and patient experiences? Would it be sick if I just did another Cap on my own because I thought the subject was cool enough? Good grief, did I actually LEARN something in BSN school? The naysayers said it wouldn't happen! I thought I was going to a diploma mill! What the?!!
People, help!
Just logged into my next class - Ethical Decision Making. OMG! Is that the class itself or is it the professor? There is only 5(!) points for every DQ, 20 for participation, but in order to get those 20, you must answer CAT question. Plus, the CLC consist of two group papers (plus everyone does individual interviews), which are graded in two separate weeks. And, the last week DQ killed me! It has 6 questions within and a case study.... And all of this is for 5 points? I probably need a break....
If anyone can suggest something on this class, I would greatly appreciate that.
Should I drop or change the professor? I have G.M.G. now....
Sorry, posted under wrong thread! reading two of them and mixed the tabs! Initially I aimed to post here - https://allnurses.com/nursing-online-distance/rn-to-bsn-854234-page157.html
You new grads need to tell us how you are going to celebrate your new degree! I took my family out for a nice relaxing dinner and then did some fun family activities. It felt so good to not have to feel guilty for having fun. It is hard to believe my graduation has been almost a year ago.
Yeah, I would like to hear!!!

I'm traveling to my nieces BSN graduation in May with zero guilt of things needing to be done. Also picking up some extra shifts at work since I have 2 kids in college. But it's nice to feel like I actually have time to relax on my days off. I'm so glad it's over but so glad I did it. Oh, and my official transcript and diploma arrived in the mail today so I'm officially a BSN prepared RN.
Winter....when are you done?

I can't believe it's been a year either!
I was just sitting here w/ husbters watching TV, new episode of Blue Bloods, which I haven't seen in, oh, I dunno, almost 2 years because my Friday nights have been socked in and dedicated to papers papers papers (luv that show, hated missing it). I actually said out loud, "HEY! This is my first weekend with NO HOMEWORK!!!!!" He kinda blew my high though because his reply was, "nuh uh, you've taken breaks before". Jeez dude, I meant no homework EVER. There's a difference between knowing you'll have to start it all up again in a couple weeks vs. never never never. Yippeee!
So tomorrow after the commencement ceremony I guess we're all heading back to my mom's for a little to-do. I remember that place, it's where I used to go for holidays and such before this BSN virus took over my life. After that, who knows. Not sure what the big grad celebration "prize" will be, I suspect we may take a trip or something this summer because when June rolls around it's also my birthday, and it's kindof a biggie, ends in a zero, and that's all I'm sayin' about that.

OOOH, a trip! Where will you go? Or where do you WANT to go? Europe? Australia? :)
Doesn't it feel just plain weird to not have homework rule your life? I didn't realize how much GCU was my evil twin until I graduated and then had nothing to do.
As for that pesky birthday that ends in ZERO, there is nothing wrong with turning 30.

I haven't done it anywhere but here...
still waiting for the other shoe to drop LOL
Yesterday I logged into my student portal to see if my Cap class had moved from Current to Completed and if the grade was attached. It had and it was, but there was an "Alert" that said something about completing my graduation application?! Um, did that in February people!
Yet another freakout email to my poor SA; I think he will be glad when I'm gone!
