Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Thats like the perfect hospital..the one NCLEX is always referring to,lol My last (and only) hospital was pretty good. ER was ok for cleaning up the pt....and they were great at looking after their people, as they would clear out the ER and drop the pts off on PCU if we were rdy or not for them. Not a big fan of that!

Does not matter to me....I could email my adviser and change the order around, but don't foresee me doing that......

The 2 classes that I can test out of changed.....used to be some kind of drug awareness class and another.....now these 2 are something totally different. I have the emails from my original adviser..so hopefully they don't give me a hard time..and all of a sudden say I can't test out of them. I have heard a few people from GCU run into this issue...almost seems like a bait and hook thing...Not too concerned. If I was working with kids..different story, lol

That stinks. Have things changed to where one cannot test out of. Maybe a policy change? I read somewhere, before I started class, that they have the right to change policies as they go, so maybe this is what happened to you?

I have not asked anyone....My advisor has been great in getting me the profs I want, so why rock the boat, lol It is only 2 classes, not overly concerned...just weird how they have changed

I think it is that work presentation thingamajig. Of course I have not dissected it yet, but it sounds icky. Lol. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Can't wait for us to take Patho together. :)

It'll be here before we know it. Getting closer to the prize!

Oh, okay. I didn't detect a sarcastic tone, but was thinking how fortunate you must be to not work with any nurses so tacky to leave crap for the next shift.

My sarcasm is really on the down low..... :)

I have to admit that I work at a pretty good facility, there isn't a whole lot of complete dead weight. There are those few who know how to get out of or work around duties, but for the most part I have few problems.

An Tokmon, our ER is great! I have never had a problem picking up a patient for surgery and they were in disarray. I have great respect for all of them.

You lucky man, lol. Our ED tells us that a pt isn't going to surgery for a couple of hours and within minutes the OR calls for them. Of course nothing has been started and OR gets angry at us.

Okay I am just not comprehending the rubric for the CLC in Community Health and I am begging for any help I can get from you smart nurses! My part is to describe the boundaries, distinguishing environmental boundaries, environmental relationships, and external systems that comprise the open, community system. I have read and reread the book and it is not sinking in. Could someone put this in English for me Please?? It would be much appreciated!

Check your PM =)

Off topic...partly, so I can live on the wild side. But I always pay for it! I went on vacation the last 2 1/2 weeks (yes even doing 2 classes), but my family needed it...I just stayed up late after everyone had gone to bed (so so sleep deprived!). So we got home this evening to return to 3 days of hard slog starting tomorrow....and the refrigerator went belly up while we are gone (I did have visions of an early bedtime, now it's cleaning out a stinky fridge)!!! My microwave went before Christmas, so does anyone out there want to figure what the third appliance will be??? Add to that I just really dislike the first week of class, figuring out the groove...how the teacher will grade, who to avoid posting on because they are a nut job ya know, the usual. Ok rant over, back to getting the fridge done, showers, a DQ with 2 posts for a day of school yadayadayada (hey I can fit that all in in the next 3 hours, righhhhtttt).

I emailed my adviser......The 2 new classes I see are upper level classes I require.....Not additional. In the past they were "substance abuse and heres to ur health" But those 2 classes are not always offered, thus why the 2 new ones (not additional, wheww) I could take them prior to Capstone, but adviser said best to take them after, so it does not interrupt the flow of the program! Doesn't really matter to me. As well I can change those 2 classes...just have to be an upper level class, and I believe I can still test out of them...my issue is I'm not in the USA....So all is well. I was just concerned that I had 2 additional classes!! Not sure how many more DQ responses I can take, lol
