Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

CLC Update PEEPS......

Anyway, got the grade today...... 99%. Please tell me that it was an individual grade not one shared by the group.

Do you have anyone's text (cell phone)#? Be sneaky/sly and text the rest of the crew - write this:

"Hey, my computer crashed and I can't get on LC from my phone - please, please look up our grade and tell me what we got? Thanks!"

Chances are, your crewmates aren't wise enough to think that they got a different grade than you did, and they may inadvertently divulge their individual grade to you (not knowing any better). I have my suspicions though, that the whole team got the same grade. I know instructors sometimes say they will grade individually, but I have never seen proof of this, and as I said before, there's nowhere on that rubric that even remotely addresses individuality - the whole thing addresses the project, not the people or collaboration. So how would an instructor "mark down" on one person's rubric when there's no dot for that?

Don't feel like being sly or sneaky. I spent today doing nothing but cruise the internet and watching television. I have been really worn out from work this week. Tomorrow I will have to do DQ 1 & 2.... Start the week behind....

I am getting a prompt to complete a survey for the class. Does anyone know if the survey is completely anonymous? During nursing school class surveys didn't fair well with me. Instructors figured out who said what and even though I said the truth without being vindictive they were not always happy with my suggestions. I don't want to go through that again.

Just wondering...

And you will never understand how appreciative we are.

BTW, Fred is my burro, please assign alternate burros to other fellow students.... :roflmao:

You are so right. Burro's are only for one person. Poor Fred might collapse.

In light of Fred's name, all burro's must names start with "F". ;)

I didn't have a burro because I never realized my University was actually at the bottom of a Canyon. I need to thank RNDynamic for that enlightening and mind boggling umm...fact. However, I would have had a burro named Fiona. :)

Wish I was nearing completion so that I could join other type A personality people and get the CLC projects completed correctly, efficiently, and early in the week..... All positive here!!!

:yes::woot:

Weeeell, there is positivity and then there is reality...sigh...dash1.gif

CLC Update PEEPS......

Of course it was submitted last Sunday with only 4 members (and me) that voted to submit it as is. I did go through and rewrite most of it and applied quotations as well as correctly referenced everything. I estimate I spent over 16 hours completing it. Many slide I cam up with new text as well as wrote full notes. I may have completely produced 3 slides myself from the information that was submitted.

I just turned in the paper due today which was wayyyyyyyy over the required length. How can you write about a 400 page report on the future of nursing and keep it within 750-1000 words?

It is a cool-rainy day here at the homestead, maybe some snow tonight. House to myself this afternoon. trying to figure out if I should brew another pot of coffee or blend some margaritas.... Maybe I will start by building a fire and watching a couple Law & Order SVU's I have recorded.... Ahhhh hell, I am going to blend the margaritas who am I kidding.

Just add the tequila to the coffee. :smokin:

Some of the members may have gotten the same grade (did that just make you pour another shot of tequila?)

Paper length: Never kept them within length except for one class because she would dock. I hated it because everything I wanted to say had value, lol. I would clear it with the instructor on day one if they were picky about word count. Many were not. The capstone has a max of 5000 and I edited down to 6500 from 8 and some change.

Never had problems but I waited until the last week, lol.

I like Prisms idea because the question would be nagging at me to know what everyone else received. I think people either get the same grade or an incomplete if they don't submit a thing.

Sadly, CLC are the flavor of the month is BSN programs. I would like to throttle the person who thought them up.

I am dreading that class but would that be cool if I could get everything done in 1 day? What is your secret? Are you a statistics minor gikg? Lol

I am definitely not a statistic minor. I don't even know what happened. For the DQ I google it until I found a website that would explain in a way that made sense to me. As for the replies I just talked about any disease the person used as example and just wrote something about that disease. So I changes the focus from stat only to disease. The excel worksheet was easy as I just followed the teacher example on YouTube. She would show exactly what to do except on her example she always skipped the last value. So I would so exactly what she food to see if I got the same answer then if I did I would do it again and put all the values needed to get my answer (I hope this makes sense). The book exercises was the hardest one. But for each chapter they had an sample exercise with answers. LOOK AT THOSE. It will tell you how they got the answer, what they are looking at, then for the question you need to answer you just follow the same step.

Good luck!

Did they explain so you understood? Is thinking storm part of gcu or independent?

I think that they are independent but GCU provides so many hours per year. They did, used a white board and everything! Just like being in a school room, kinda!

Sometimes you just have to put your cowboy boots on and do the dirty. Job done. Sure hope it doesn't affect our overall grade. But sometime late Lucy's just need a come apart moment, and I am willing to provide that today!

I would like a donkey named Finn. Yes I think that fits this Irish girl.

Just did the library webinar. Whoa....so many links and search options. Suspect I may be calling them a time or two!

I would like a donkey named Felicity.

More news. Got a post from one group member and they thanked me for putting everything together and was really happy with the 99%. Apparently everyone got the same grade. Oh well, run my own game and hope I never work with some of these fellow group members.

Like the new donkeys. Fred does get a little frisky though..... Felicity may need to watch out.
