Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

So I log into TS tutor to go over my stats assignment and the tutor says it's a big assignment and asks me to log back in an hour from now to go through it, so they have time to look through it. That happen to anyone else? How do they get paid if I am not logged in?

That never happened to me but if you aren't logged in I wouldn't think the time would be counted towards your 10 free hours.

Maybe that's why they want you to give time to look, so it doesn't count toward your hours.

It it is nice of them, but I hope they are paid by salary so they are not jipped :uhoh3:

Oh lovely, the tutor is not available and I'm starting all over with a new one. I have to leave for work in less than an hour and this is the assignment with 2 lessons. I hope I have Speedy Gonzales as a tutor :)

Winter...I don't know if I would necessarily think taking Ethics over the Christmas break would be a benefit. It really ALL depends on the CLC group you get though. The 2-part CLC involves alot of communication amongst team members (to agree on the ethical dilemma itself and then to agree on the group's position on what to do about it and then come up with the rationale to support it (and then write the papers). I was unlucky and had a very unresponsive group that a) didn't understand the assignment in that we had to do the above, and b) didn't give their opinions and c) thought I was a freak when I started freaking out about said unresposniveness. So, considering everyone will be "on break", both literally and mentally, those extra 2 weeks won't help if everyone is checked-out. I'd save the 2-week extension for a class that you thought YOU needed extra time to complete YOUR assignments (like maybye Community or Patho or Capstone?) My saving grace in the class was the fact that it was only 5 weeks... But hey, you may get a great group, in reading all these posts all along, it appears I'm the only one so far that has had a disastrous experience :)

Weeelllll now I had not thought of that!

Properly Citing GCU Lecture Notes... brought to you by this week's edition of "WHO KNEW??"

In-text citation example: According to Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, the grief process follows a natural cycle of phases that includes denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance ("Lecture 5," 2011).

Reference example: Understanding and Overcoming Grief. (2011). HLT-310V: Spirituality in Health Care. Phoenix, AZ: Grand Canyon University.

Note: No URL is required for electronic resources within a GCU course. (you know, the URL that is 10,000 characters long that runs right off the page of some people's DQs?

I'd like to take this opportunity to rename our weekly submission from

"WHO KNEW??" to " :hlk: "

as in, "Nobody has pointed this out to me until class #9?? Do you know how many hundreds of times I have written (Grand Canyon University[GCU], 2011). ?

and in case you're wondering the rationale for the citation/reference format: "The title in quotation marks is used instead of the author because lectures in GCU courses are not attributed to individual authors; in this case, the title moves into the first position in the in-text citation and is enclosed in quotation marks."

Now I'm no APA guru, but I've been doing the (GCU, 2011) bit because I thought if there was no individual author, the 2nd option is a Group Author/Institution. If this is indeed correct, why could someone not have mentioned this oh, I dunno, a year ago?

(insert sound of forehead hitting desk here)

WHAT!!!!!!! Class 6 and I had NO idea either! I refuse to quote the lecture notes due to the 10,000 character URL that runs off the page!!! GRGRRRRRRRRRR

I would send my assignment in and then when they came on they were ready to go, but most times it was just a matter of waiting the few minutes to do the whole assignment in less than 20 minutes that I had taken days to do! Smarty pants. They know their stuff!

Aww that's cute.

Shoot, I never utilized the tutor. Probably should have. I spent the entire day on one of those assignments and prayed to the God's it was correct.
