Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Speaking of mojo, I've totally lost mine and have absolutely no motivation for my community health class. And to tell you the truth, so far the class has been pretty easy. Week one was only DQ's. Week 2 had an additional paper that was not that difficult. Week 3 is the addition of doing my part of the CLC, which I'm struggling with becasue of lack of motivation. Week 4 and 5 will be the addition of the 3 parts for the teaching project. And I can't seem to muster any motivation to work ahead. I'm not getting much of a spark to do anything more than mediocre work, even under the looming deadlines I cause myself

A big part of my issue is that I am a fresh ADN grad, and have been going to school nonstop for 5 years now. I am burnt out on school!

Anyway, planning ahead, any recommendations on an awesome instructor for nursing research??? Please PM me.

Oh yes, the case of the lost mojo...:grn:I think it gets everyone eventually. It is so difficult to write one more paper, one more DQ and participate in one more CLC. I get the educational fatigue. You feel as though you are never done with learning! LOL. BTDT for the last 5 years, but not as intense as yours, with school (ADN). This is the first time in my five years that I don't HAVE to learn a thing!:woot:

Why not have a goal of doing something nice for yourself once this class is over? Maybe a little reward will sweeten the pot. :)

I feel the same way... I was signed up for assignments due Weds. Did not even know I was accepted, what credits were accepted, etc... Yes I can do the assignment.. but my questions are not answered.

things are going fine for now! Got my DQ's done and I stepped up and submitted the CLC Agreement for our group. I'm hoping I did it right! They may not want me in their group after all! Seems like a pretty good first week!

Hey there wonderful people. I guess I am currently in my first of two week academic break, but signed up for extra shifts at work. :woot:

Oh, I am a bit apprehensive about Community Health. This will be my repeater and I told myself that I would give myself at least a good complete week without thinking about class. (Easier said than done) I am now trying real hard not to open up the folder with Comm. Health content.

I would like to get a jump start on all of it, especially that freakin' big presentation/write up at the end of the 5th week.

Any other names for Comm Health instructors, I just got one name. Anyways, PM me please.

Thank you again for all of your wonderful input.

Love you ALL!!, Blessings!! :cat:

Rainyn, I am in the first week of that class and I agree with you. I am not very excited about this class. I am not sure I understand the CLC assignment at week 4 either. So we have to pick 1 persons area to write about and whomever's area that is, has to do an interview and the rest of us have to research the area? weird. Or do you understand it to be something different?

Yep pretty much how you said it. My group divided it up as one person writes the questions. One person interviewed and we chose that person's area. One person is researching (ME). One person is summarizing the interview and assessment. The last person it putting it all together. I ended up with the work for about half of the slides. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I'm not going to end up being very thorough.

I have decided to start the Monday after I return from my get-away. In the mean time, that gives me a few weeks to get organized, plan the money thing, etc...I would be starting the class basically on Thurs Evening.

On Monday I didn't even know I was accepted or what courses I needed. I appreciate their encouragement and communication, don't get me wrong. I would love to start with Derk, however!

But I think this is best.

In Sept, there are many vacations, I will be working lot's of extra hours. Another reason to wait. In Oct. the dept will have settled down to a mild roar! :)

Oh boy.. not happy with the pressure.. I do like the attentiveness.. I want an RN advisor. Is

there such thing?

There is no such thing as an RN advisor. Since you haven't tehinically started class yet, you are still at the Enrollment Counselor stage.

There may be pressure because they finally realized they left you in the dust for a month and are rapidly trying to make up for their neglect of you. Just be clear with your EC that you have chosen a start date (Monday, 10/13, after your vacation), and have them enroll you in a class that begins on that date. Between now and then, fill out all paperwork that is necessary (financial aid, application to GCU, finalize all transcripts, etc.), and also ask for guidance on the English class you need to make up for those missing credits (I think I remember you saying you wanted to get that done before you started?)

She (EC) is telling me she will be my counselor for the entire time.

Just her...

Just a hint...save that CLC and all the mumbo jumbo excluding the names. You can use it again. :)

Pink,

You have an enrollment counselor for now, but will move to an academic advisor who will be with you.
