So I live in Georgia, I graduated May 7 of 2021. I was not aware that Georgia had a 3 year window were it was mandatory to pass NCLEX for licensing. Well I figured that out too late and took it on my 3 year anniversary day and failed. Now I am met with dead ends and am told I have to go through another RN program. Any help or advice, can I take it in another state? Please some one help.

Documentation of one of the following within four years immediately preceding the date of application:

1. Five hundred (500) hours of licensed practice as a registered nurse as documented on the verification of employment form provided by the Board;

so factor this into your  licensure and then endorsement goal.

More states are placing a limit on time to take NCLEX post graduation. PA added within 1 year unless extenuating circumstance.

FL allows one to retake NCLEX 3 times then would need to take a remedial course. That may be an option.  AL allows one to apply for  initial license if failed NCLEX in another state by completing OUT-OF-STATE REPEAT EXAMINATION ATTACHMENT.  You have options, check your neighboring states BON to see which state will meet your need.

And paragraph 2 of the referenced section:

2. Graduation from a nursing education program as defined in O.C.G.A. §§ 43-26-3(1.2) or 43-26-7(e)

I find it odd that for licensure by examination the NCLEX must be written within 3 years of graduation, while licensure by endorsement extends the time period to 4 years.

I took mine in Ohio.  I am currently working on get my GA license.   You will have to submit an application to the state, fingerprints and find a program, cost is around 85$ to GA Board.  You will have to do an RN Reentry within six months after you start the program before you are issued a GA license.  The reentry program is anywhere from 1600 to 3000$, you will have to do 20 class hours and 160 clinical hours... unfortunately.

I moved to GA from Florida several years back amd in Florida you have to remediate after 3 times, and it was cheaper to take NCLEX again through a different state.

I guess it depends on the state. In ny it would be 90 days you can retake a NCLEX but you only have 12 months from graduation for it to be considered valid for test taking.

While I can't be super helpful as I not familiar with Georgia's laws. Some states are stricter them others and won't budge. If that is the case I would look into other state requirements.

Three years is a long time to go without practicing or working as a RN -- a new grad RN, at that. To top it off, it's a lot of time to forget a lot of material.

 If you already had a few years experience, not as big of a deal but you have probably not set foot in a clinic or hospital for more than 3 years, since you opted to do something else.  Plus, not even having taken and passed NCLEX  just doesn't fare well for a successful transition.

You should still go back and seek some type of refresher course regardless of what any state board of nursing requires.
