Graduate Nurse starting salary? All feedbacks welcome!

Published

Hi folks,

I want to know if anyone know the exact starting wage of a BSN graduate nurse is here in St. Louis MO. So far I've heard everything ranging from $18 - $27 an hour. I've even checked the salary on http://www.salary.com and nurses in this area makes $50,000-$60,000 a year, but that seems a bit too high. Thanks & Any comments are welcome.

$35-$38 in New York City.

After shift diffs...I am being started at 26.75. I am pretty stoked--not only to have a job..but the hospitals here are starting out at 18 or 23 with shift diffs. I am gonna be working at at LTC facility, on the skilled nursing floor. We will see how it goes!

I'm in Houston

New grads get $23.50/hr

After residency, we get a dollar more

I'll be working evenings (3-11), so after the 15% diff I'll get about $27/hr

Not bad :)

Specializes in Vascular Surgery.

In Sacramento, Ca -- With differentials the hourly ends up being $45/hr

Wow, I consider myself blessed then, as central WI is paying 24.80 for new grads. Only 100, 000 in our area, so cost of living isn't TOO high... 27.55 after diffs for nights on weekends...

OAHU, Hawaii is 32-36/ hour for new grads.

guys, what holds more weight in choosing a hospital? is it the starting pay or the reputation of the hospital? would you work in a magnet/prestigious hospital that pays low? how do you decide? is it how your resume will look like or how your pockets will feel like?

is there an need for lpn's and cna's and pct
