Who's applied to GPC for the fall?
Nurse2b, I finally got in on my second try with a 3.33 and an 80 on TEAS. But the first time I applied I had about a 2.8 and did not get in. So I agree that GPC definitely looks more at GPA. There were people with lower TEAS than myself with highter GPA's that got in. I think it would be difficult to get in with a GPA below a 3.0. Good luck to you!
I am an accepted GPC nursing student for this fall. Congrats to all that made in, it has been a long journey for me and I am looking forward to this next journey as a nursing student. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and possibly starting study groups. Has anyone ordered their uniforms yet and what technology were you guys going to be using or investing in for nursing school? Ipod, tablets, pda, etc. Anyone know if these are necessary if you don't already have them or any must haves? Just trying to get as prepared as possible for fall. Any information will be helpful. Thank you.
You are right, ummnasim. I just went and checked their website, http://depts.gpc.edu/~gpcnurs/apply.htm and they have changed their policy since I applied last fall for 2012. Now they do want you to take the teas on your own before applying to the nursing program. Thanks for posting this new information.
Wow!!! Ok, I just saw that they want you to take it before applying also!!! They was fast this must be something new for the 2013 group. It was just last year when she was invited to sit. I just love this website it's so informative. If you guys can could you keep us posted with things when you start the program.
keepmovinglpn, are you in the program now? I am sooooo curious what the schedule is like. How was first semester - are you at the school everyday and what hours are you there? I have children and am wondering if I will have issues getting them to and from school, etc. Thanks!
mg100, I just finished my second semester (1930). On paper, the schedule doesn't seem bad, but it really is about time management and organization. You have lecture, skills lab, clinical and sim lab. But you HAVE to find time to study in there. Most people in our class have children. I guess class will start at 9am so you have to make sure you're there in time. For first semester at clinical, we had most of the class going to the hospital from 7am-3pm. There was also a group that went from 3pm - 11pm. If getting to the hospital early is an issue with daycare and school and all that, perhaps the 3-11 shift is better for you if you can get someone to take care of them in the afternoon. Clinical was 2 days a week, every other week for first semester. Regardless, you will have to make accommodations for your children either in the mornings or in the evenings when you have clinical.
You have to be in lecture, but you can go to school as much or as little as you want. Gas prices are high so I would make the most of my trips there. Like plan study groups on the days that you have lecture or the days that you are already going to be on campus practicing in the skills lab, etc.

Nurse2b I got accepted with a scoring a 63% on the teas which is proficient. All my general classess where A's and B's. But I don't have the A and B streak anymore since I started nursing school. Lol!My point in telling you my score is tell u don't stress out about the teas test, just make sure you score at least proficient on it bc GPC focuses more on GPA. Good luck to u:-)
