I applied for the Fall 2008 General Track at GPC, and I was wondering if anyone has gotten their letters yet? My classmates and I went to talk to someone at advisement and they said they will be mailed out by the end of this month. I'm so anxious!
i know.. ehhh on the reading, its usually my strongest on tests, i dont know what happened, im gonna see if i can take it again, but our application deadline was yesterday so im not sure how it works... gpc asks for at least a 57 in reading and a 65 composite...
this has been the hardest "process" ever... i just want to be a nurse...not an md.... sorry just venting...
I AM STARTING THE PROGRAM IN THE SPRING. AND I KEEP HEARING THAT THE STUDY HABITS FOR OTHER CLASSES DONT APPLY TO THE NURSING PROGRAM AND THAT ONE HAS TO CHANGE THEIR WAY OF STUDYING...
sorry for typing in caps.. just realized caps lock was on... any who.. do you have any suggestions for study techniques that will help me be successful in GPC's program? how do i begin to think like a nurse
Hello trustingGod. First, as a recent grad of the GPC nursing program I will say that it is not necessarily changing your study habits but it is more like adjusting them to the workload. There is a lot of reading and no you must know from the start that there is not going to be anyway to read word for word and memorize your material. This being said, start visiting the tutorial lab and get some study tips to learn the best way to read and grasp and learn how to think like a nurse.
I originally made the mistake of trying to twist my study habits all around to a way that I was not at all used to but in the 2nd semester (Med/Surg), I switched back to the old way I was used to studying and twicked it a bit and it worked tremendously.
Since you are starting in the spring I would suggest that you check with an instructor about what books they are going to be using and try to at least get the Fundamentals book and also start reading up on your A&P and medical terminology. This will give you a good start on the semester. Good luck to you and remember your name on here whenever it gets tough, Trusting God!
Thank you sooo much for the advice. that is exactly what i need someone to tell me what i can do vs how hard it is. I know its doable and i am going to do it the first time around... thank you so much and please know i will be in contact with you (if it is okay).. i cant send any messages on here but my email address is [email protected]

Do you have to take the nursing classes at 2 or more campuses or is it all at the campus you chose?
