GPA's of accepted applicants.

How about an entire thread where everyone that made it into nursing school replies w/ answers to these questions:

School of Acceptance:

Pre-Nursing Sciences GPA:

Pre-Nursing Cumulatve GPA:

Seems like getting into nursing schools is more difficult than actually getting through them... I'm so tired of hearing about what a need there is for nurses... If 4 of every 5 nursing applicants are rejected then schools need to invest in MORE ******* STAFF!!! YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE STRAIGHT-*******-A's TO BE AN UNDERPAID DR's *****! GOD!

Frustrated for myself and everyone that waits on the edge of their seat for an acceptance/rejection notice for nursing school!!!

Thanks for all the replies! I don't know if I feel better but right now my cumulative is a 3.5. The program at Lawson State requires a 2.5 for application so I think I should be alright. I'm just going to apply twice a year (spring and summer) until I get in, lol. Hopefully I won't be 97 before they let me in. They do go on points though so I don't know. I just wanna get in, learn the stuff, and get out so I can move on with my life. PS I saw on monster.com in Birmingham some listings starting RNs out at like 80K right out of ADN. Sounds promising. A two nurse income like that would leave you sittin' pretty... minus the 35% the gov's gonna take out... By the way, all my mother's female siblings are and my mom are nurses and they say that male nurses make more than female nurses. She says male nurses are more effective because they have the ability to stay completely detached from emotional involvement. Call that tough love? I suppose so. Thanks again for all the replies.

you all are so smart! My GPA's only 3.35 from my previous Bachelor's degree and that's not gonna change very much as it's based off of 150 credits. Pre-reqs are the same but I'm just now starting the Chem & Bio courses. I have an A so far in Chem I. Wish me luck!

School of Acceptance: Hinds Allied Health Center

Pre-Nursing Sciences GPA: 4.0

Pre-Nursing Cumulatve GPA: 4.0

Have orientation tomorrow!! Really excited to get started!

Specializes in LTC, Nursing Management, WCC.
University of Southern Maine says they require a 3.0GPA for their accelerated BSN program.

My science GPA was a 4.0 and my overall GPA was a 3.79. I actually think requirements to get into nursing school should be pretty high...I wouldn't want someone with a 2.0GPA that didn't know their ass from their elbow being my nurse.

I'm also a gay guy raised by two lesbian moms, so I had a unique story to get in:)

Good grades does not automatically equal good nurse. (Although I am an exception, but that's just because I rock!) ;)

I have noticed some schools are changing on this trend. Someone with a lower GPA can get admitted over a person with a higher GPA.

You can't teach bedside manner and other things that are considered the art of nursing.

Good luck all! Study hard...play nice

I have to agree with psychnurse...good GPA does not equal good nurse... i have seen new gn's with honors and all crash and burn when they reach the floor...so for all the students with so-so gpa's don't give up!!

good luck to all
