How about an entire thread where everyone that made it into nursing school replies w/ answers to these questions:

Seems like getting into nursing schools is more difficult than actually getting through them... I'm so tired of hearing about what a need there is for nurses... If 4 of every 5 nursing applicants are rejected then schools need to invest in MORE ******* STAFF!!! YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE STRAIGHT-*******-A's TO BE AN UNDERPAID DR's *****! GOD!

Frustrated for myself and everyone that waits on the edge of their seat for an acceptance/rejection notice for nursing school!!!

School of Acceptance: Keiser University

Pre-Nursing Sciences GPA: 3.0

Pre-Nursing Cumulatve GPA: 3.0

Must maintain a 3.0 while in nursing core or you are ousted.

As far as people not being admitted into programs, I understand why schools discriminate so as far as the grades go. It is a shame there are not more instructors out there to teach as well. Maybe that should be the long term goal of all of us who are in nursing school now, to take the responsibility to become nursing instructors later in life so that others don't have to go through what we are.

Just a thought, I get those sometimes.....;)

School of Acceptance: College of Lake County

Pre-Nursing Sciences GPA: 3.0

Pre-Nursing Cumulatve GPA: 3.0

We must have at least a 2.0 to be considered, so not hard to do. Ours is mainly based off of the NLN scores though.

School of acceptance: Florida Community College of Jax

Science GPA: 3.33

Cumulative GPA: 3.73

Our school does not look at Gpa's (just has to be at least a 2.0) Everything is based on a point system; as a result though, those with a higher gpa have a higher number of points. You must also do well on the NAT as that score can definitely impact your total points.

Specializes in Family Practice, Primary Care.

University of Southern Maine says they require a 3.0GPA for their accelerated BSN program.

My science GPA was a 4.0 and my overall GPA was a 3.79. I actually think requirements to get into nursing school should be pretty high...I wouldn't want someone with a 2.0GPA that didn't know their ass from their elbow being my nurse.

I'm also a gay guy raised by two lesbian moms, so I had a unique story to get in:)

It's frustrating but, atelast in my area, I notice there are many different options. I am going to a small CC they only look at GPA of pre reqs. I have a 4.0 so I got in. This worked for me I started when I was 36 and wanted to make sure I got in the first time. There are other schools around me go on Points, GPA being included but not the only factor, we also have schools that do strictly lottery or ones with only a wait list, minimum of 2.5 to apply.

goodluck do some research and see if you can commute or alternitve programs, you will get in!!! I remember being equally frustrated 3 years ago thinking I will never be able to do this but I have and I start in January.
