Ugh, give me a break. None of us would have jobs at all if we didn't need to get paid! Get over all that "love what you do" BS. It's about the money. Anyone that tells you it isn't is full of ****. Nursing is a ****** job. Bottom line. Pay, benefits and job security are most likely the top reasons people decide to become nurses. Don't be ashamed to let people know its about the money. And **** people who give you **** about it being that way. I'll do it for you... piss off miss "like what you do"!

Thanks for all the replies! I don't know if I feel better but right now my cumulative is a 3.5. The program at Lawson State requires a 2.5 for application so I think I should be alright. I'm just going to apply twice a year (spring and summer) until I get in, lol. Hopefully I won't be 97 before they let me in. They do go on points though so I don't know. I just wanna get in, learn the stuff, and get out so I can move on with my life. PS I saw on monster.com in Birmingham some listings starting RNs out at like 80K right out of ADN. Sounds promising. A two nurse income like that would leave you sittin' pretty... minus the 35% the gov's gonna take out... By the way, all my mother's female siblings are and my mom are nurses and they say that male nurses make more than female nurses. She says male nurses are more effective because they have the ability to stay completely detached from emotional involvement. Call that tough love? I suppose so. Thanks again for all the replies.

Probably 25 or 26... I've enjoyed my screwin around though. I definitely didn't waste my early 20s. No regrets here... no money either though :) lol PS though, this will be my second career. First was in IT. God does that sh!t suck!!! Joel

How about an entire thread where everyone that made it into nursing school replies w/ answers to these questions: School of Acceptance: Pre-Nursing Sciences GPA: Pre-Nursing Cumulatve GPA: Seems like getting into nursing schools is more difficult than actually getting through them... I'm so tired of hearing about what a need there is for nurses... If 4 of every 5 nursing applicants are rejected then schools need to invest in MORE ******* STAFF!!! YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE STRAIGHT-*******-A's TO BE AN UNDERPAID DR's *****! GOD! Frustrated for myself and everyone that waits on the edge of their seat for an acceptance/rejection notice for nursing school!!!

I just want to make a living. The sooner you realize that we work so we can live (not live so we can work) the better off you'll be. I've never liked any job or career that I've had. It's just a way to pay the bills. The idea that you should love your job is as much of a fantasy as girls having their rich handsome husbands, living in mansions and driving Porches. Loving things like that are called HOBBIES. Get with it. PS Sorry girls... I'm just tired of meeting those of you who think you are going to get anything but just plain ol' me out of the deal. Gag! Find your green grass somewhere else!

Most job security! I could never work in business or sames (where you never know exactly how much you'll bring home).

I got an 89.8 on my first A&P I exam. The teacher doens't round the grades so I am 2/10 of a point from an A on my first exam. Needless to say I'm on the "war path" now for an A on my next exam and on those thereafter. What do most most of you get on your A&P exams? How much harder are the lab exams than the lecture exams? I have looked some but haven't found just what I am looking for. Hopefully you all can help. Will you please reply with, or point me to in the forum, your GPAs before you got accepted to your programs? Also, what was the biggest thing that you think helped you in your acceptance to your CRNA program. I called Texas Wesleyan and asked what their AVERAGE accepted GPA was and the lady replied "about 3.1". I don't really see this as being a problem as I don't have a problem getting good grades (thankfully). Also, if I'll not be too much more of a burden, is a CRNA program something to be intimidated by? Things like medical school and MCATs and whatnot are something that I think most people see being so far out of reach that they might as well not try. I understand that CRNA programs are difficult and require a lot of effort but is it something that some might just panic and forget trying for altogether? Thank you for your replies. Joel
