Anyone do Home Health and work at hospital
I agree, I think hospital work ft can be extremely stressful a lot of the time, thats why I was really considering working like 24 hours a week at the hospital and doing part time home health also. I think this will work out great with my kids who are still young.:heartbeat

Decisions..Decisions???SSC!!
I graduated from SSC in 09 from the ADN program. For me it was almost impossible for me to work because they give you enormous amount of studying to do in a small amount of time. Some girls did work and pass but ended up dropping their work hours or quitting their jobs all together in order to pass. I would not recommend working if you can afford it. The amount of studying is about 4 hours per day in order to be successful (at least for me). Good luck! PM if u have any questions.

Agency nurses how do you do it?
Hello, I had a question about agency nurses because I was interested in doing agency as soon as my two years are up, but I just had a question on how you learn all the procedures about the hospital. Do you get training with the actual hospital before you start? Do you get a preceptor for even a day or two? You know how every hospital has different ways of doing things like if your hanging blood you need to fill a specific form out etc or if a patient is going for surgery there are certain things that need to be done before surgery and every hospital is different. Do staff nurses hate when you ask question and think that you should already know everything? How do you know how each hospital works if your going to different hospitals? LIke charting, forms, protocols, procedures?

So frustrated and depressed
You are the one being a drama queen with these types of comments! This is someones career, livelihood, waiting the first two days to find out if you passed is bad enough.

Ex Med/Surg nurses what unit did you transfer to
Hello, to all you nurses who used to work medsurg what unit did you transfer to and do you like it better? Im asking because I am a new nurse on a medsurg tele floor, have been on my own for about 6 months. Dont particularly like some parts of it. I dont like the fact that I have 8 patients, very rarely but some nights I am even charge nurse, we can go up to 25 patients on the floor with only 1 aide, it can just be very hectic and I would say 90% of the time I dont leave on time. Basically Im sooo stressed out. I really want to transfer to another unit or another area of nursing that is not so hectic, I am looking for slower paced, more of the same thing everyday type position. I know there will always be suprises but want something that wont bring soo much stress. Any nurses out there that were in medsurg hated it and went to another unit or area and loved it or at least liked it a whole lot more???

Mean coworker
Hello, Im a nurse on a medsurg floor and there is a coworker who is so rude to me. Ever since I started on this floor she was never nice to me. Every time I would talk to her its like she wouldnt even say anything, its liike she was too good to even have a conversation. Now every time I say something to her she just has the biggest attitude towards me and is so rude. She seems like such a negativer person and I heard her talking about a girl who she barely even knows and saying she doesnt like her. Ive never met a person who was so rude and gave me such an attitude, Its weird because she picks who she likes and who she doesnt like, so she is so nice to the people she likes and is so rude to the people she doesnt. The only reason why this is bothering me is because I am a friendly person and Ive never met a person who was so mean and arrogant and I cant figure out what I did to this person, although shes been rude to me since day one. Its so weird its like she trying to throw it in my face that she likes other people and doesnt like me, by being really nice to them in front of me and then not saying a word to me. I know this shouldnt bother me but I have to work with this person and I feel like one day she is gonna make me argue with her because I can only take so much disrespect. How do I deal with this situation, I already tried being nice and that didnt work. Dont know what to do.....

Experienced Nurses:If you would have known then what you know now you would have....
Experienced nurses if you knew then what you know now what would you have done differently. For example one nurse told me when deflating the balloon of a foley make sure to use more than 2 10 cc syringes to make sure all the fluid has come out. What tips can you give to new nurses that you have learned over the years that you wish you would have known as a new nurse.....Thanks

Im miserable at my new job!!! HELP!
There are going to be tons of different personalities while working in any setting, not everyone is going to get along as easy with everyone but there still needs to be respect towards one another and why not show kindness and offer a smile to someone. When someone walks in the door what is so hard with saying hello or give a smile instead of looking the other way. Maybe there are some bitter people out there who just dont care to show kindness and respect but I hope I never become that way.

Im miserable at my new job!!! HELP!
Hello everyone Im a new RN been knew for about 3 months now and Im just not happy at my job, my stomach starts to hurt before I go in. Im currently working on a medsurg floor with a ratio of 8:1. The job itself is stressful, the patients are really "heavy" some have peg tubes, trachs. Anyhow, the main thing that is making me miserable is the staff. There are a couple of coworkers who are just not friendly to me, at first when I would try to spark up a conversation they would sort of ignore me, so now I dont even bother to try to talk to them. I can be an introvert but only to people who I dont feel confortable around, Everytime I walk on the unit, they dont even say hi to me, there are some other coworkers who are friendly and I love talking to them but the other ones I just feel so uncomfortable around them. I dont know what Im doing wrong, Im friendly to everyone I am a really nice person, they make me feel like Im not fitting in or something, I know this is stupid and I shouldnt worry about stuff like this, I know Im not at work to make friends but the work enviroment is horrible when people around you act as if they dont like you.

When to call the doctor?
Hello, I am currently working on a medsurg tele unit (night shift) with patient ratio of 8:1. I am still orientating and not yet by myself in a week or two. The only thing that gets me confused is when to call the doctor or when to call a rapid response. Any general tips on when to call a rapid response vs. calling the dr.? Or when working night shift what things can wait till morning?
