I was wondering if anyone know of any rn schools that except a 2.25 GPA on pre req to get into the program. Any state near CA. It seems school have a 3.0 or 2.75 GPA req on pre req.
Any help on this issue would help thanks
Like most of the other users on here I recommend that you retake some of your classes to raise up that GPA. I think that you should find a program your interested in at a specific school, retake the classes at that college (because most programs give preference to students who have taken most of their classes at that college) and wait to be accepted. Jumping around schools is really tough because most programs want to give the open spots to students who have started off at that college. I'm in RI and many of the colleges around here and in Mass. usually have a minimum GPA of a 2.5 or 2.7 but won't really start accepting students under a 3.0 (although many students have a 3.5 - 4.0) Good luck!

MCC in Rochester, NY require only a 2.0 in the core prereqs..BUT admission is based on a point system. Points for the prereq based on the grade you got. You are allowed to repeat these courses, but some points are knocked off for retaking them. I honestly don't know how many people get in with c's. The reason most schools need a higher GPA is because they say that experience has shown that those that don't do well in these classes will really stuggle in nursing school.
I would talk to the advisors in the colleges you want to attend to see what they suggest.
Hi everyone, thanks for the great advice, but I (career12) was only responding to a question that someone living out in CA ( lastdon9680 ) on the pg 1 had in regards to their gpa being 2.25 and not knowing what to do. I'm new to this so maybe I posted my response the wrong way, sorrrry:bugeyes:... but I am sure that they may read it and it will still provide support for them. Thanks everyone.
Only 4.0s got in at the school I intend to go to. Over 400 applicants for 40 slots, 60 of whom had 4.0 GPA. That means 20 4.0s did not get in! Definitely retake all of your classes and make As in them. Take one at a time if need be.
Now that's a school that ain't foolin' around! If I had to have a 4.0 to get in I would just go crazy, right now I have a 3.8 and that is after a lot of hard work.

I agree, I think you should also take them over b/c most colleges/universities have a 2.5 gpa and greater to get in. I do know that you can try transfering somewhere else where you can start fresh, or chances are you can find a school that will only take the subjects that they need and that may help them come up with a new gpa which may give you a better shot at getting in somewhere. Besides some schools do not look at the cumulative gpa only the gpa for the classes that they need.
