Got my VT License!!

Hi all! just want to share with you my experience on how I received my VT license. Today, as I regularly check VT website about the status of my application, it was such a blessing to see my name on the list of licensed nurse of VT.

To some who have been sending me pm's on the status and how I did about the application to VT and CA application expiring on Jan 20.... Here's the summary:

December 15, 2007: submitted "verification of license" form and an explanation letter with $60 check.....

-----CHECK NOT YET CLEARED AS OF THIS TIME

December 18, 2007: Submitted application to VT with $150 check

MISTAKE: didn't include CA pass letter

December 24, 2007 : VT received application and fees

------ CHECK GOT CLEARED

January 4, 2008: Sent CA BON request for extension of CA-RN application sent thru email, mail and fax

------ NO REPLY

January 8, 2008: Sent VT pass letter from CA

*** EMAILED THEM EVERY WEEK SINCE THEN IF THEY RECEIVED MY PASS LETTER

January 15, 2008: CA bon answered my email and asked if did I sent $10 payment for the transfer of NCLEX results to VT

January 16, 2008: Sent CA bon request for test scores for VT with $10

January 23, 2008: received an email that VT received pass letter

January 24, 2008: VT issued my license:w00t:

I email CA bon almost every 2 days just to know the status of my requests and application.... I got tired of calling them since they only give information based on what they see on the computer and up to now they are telling me that they haven't received any of my request. My CA application is now expired and I don't know if my extension was granted.

I just want to share this to people having the same problems..... VT does not require anything coming from CA Bon. All you need is the pass letter and the application based from my experience.

Thank you to all the advices. This forum is such a blessing to me.

You are going to need to give them some time. You usually need to allow two weeks to see anything posted. They may have processed your husband's application already, but they do that individually, not at the same time.

I would give them two weeks before contacting them.

thanks suzzanne:nuke:

[color=#333333]hi, fruity! i'm now in the same situation as yours though my ca application will expire next year. anyway, i would like to ask you these following questions.

[color=#333333][color=#0000bf]1. how many years will vt license expires?

[color=#0000bf]2. if vt license will expire (and i'm still here in the [color=#0000bf]philippines[color=#0000bf]), do i need to take refresher programs to renew my license?

[color=#333333]3. about the ca pass letter, you submitted the one that is sent to you by ca or is photocopy accepted?

[color=#333333]4. just want to clarify, you requested ca bon ( & paid $10) for a transfer / copy of test results to be directly send to vt bon?

[color=#0000bf]your help is deeply appreciated! thank you & god bless! :nuke:

Hi...I am sooo happy .when by chance I checked the professional licensing name finder and I saw my name already in their list ..that 's two weeks after I sent my application .

However..the license will expire after a year??do we need a SSN for it to be renewed?

hi fruity!congrats for having a VT license. your case is similar to mine but my CA nclex exam apllication will wxpire in December 2009.may I know when your VT will expire and what are the process or procedures to take to be able to renew your Vt license.thanks!

It is 3 years and some people were able to extend it for an additional 1 year thru a formal request to CA BRN.

It would not be wise if you apply for Initial Licensure/Endorsement to VT or any other State BON for that matter very, very early. It would be more prudent if you stretch that 3 years as much as you can before doing anything. 6-8 mos. before it actually expires would be a good insurance time to do it.

And why do the CGFNS certification? It is not needed by both CA BRN and VT BON. These are only one of the few boards remaining that do their own credential evaluation for foreign grads. Doing the CGFNS Certification would negate the very reason why people choose these States in the first place. Giving the CGFNS Certification to these boards are inconsequential. They only accept it as a source of another evaluation/certification but they can do it on their own and that is what you have paid them to do. Absolutely no point doing the CGFNS Certification for these 2 boards.

No sense on worrying about this very early as well. You haven't even taken the NCLEX-RN exam yet. Stretch the 3 years CA BRN is giving you as much as you can once you pass the exam then try to make a formal request to CA BRN to extend it for another year and do this about 6 mos. or so before it actually expires and if they do not do it anymore in the near future or have not heard from them after your request, that is the time that you consider applying for VT. Maybe 2-3 mos. before it expires and if you were not able to get that 1 year extension or have not heard a reply from CA BRN regarding your request for an extension.

Congratulations, Fruity! That was pretty awesome, what you shared -- good for you :yeah:

Lawrence,

Why do you say that it wouldn't be wise to apply for application for licensure/endorsement to vermont early on? My NCLEX results for California will expire in 2011 and I have no SSN so I too have been shopping around for states to transfer my score to. I read about ARizona's new requirement for accepting RN licensure applications from US citizens only and am afraid other states will eventually follow suit....therefore, as early as now I am planning to secure my license ASAP. Also, I found an employer in another state and so I need a license in order to endorse to that state. That's why I was planning to send in my application to vermont as early as this month -- a little over 2 years from the expiration date set by California.

I didn't think there was a problem with doing that, until I read your post. Why wouldn't it be prudent? Care to explain please. Thank you.

If your employer is going to be in another state then you may as well apply for licensure and move your NCLEX results across. Lawrence's post in my opinion is aimed more towards the members who go through Ca because that is where they want to work. When applying to another state you will still have to meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse

I see. In that case I'll be sending in my application for VT this week. Thanks as always, Silverdragon!
