Goodwin Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to make this for everyone applying this Spring! I attached the point guide to the post!

I just submitted my application and am waiting to sign up for my TEAS. What is everyone using to prepare? I have very bad test anxiety and horrible ADHD but have managed to make it this far with decent grades. What do you guys have for points? GPA’s? I’m really intimidated by the point system because I didn’t transfer in with 60+ credits! I read through some of the old posts for applicants and I’ve seen people being accepted with points as low as 15 so I’m crossing my fingers.

Hopefully it does not happen to you or anyone else! I wish I had followed up more with my application because I had such a terrible gut feeling that something like that would happen. I applied with 19 points and the cutoff was 15 points.. so it was super frustrating to end up on the waitlist.

I took this semester off because I finished up the non-nursing courses for the RN and RN-to-BSN programs last semester.

Ugh that cut off gives me hope. I was literally 0.5% away from scoring high enough on my TEAS to give me 16 points total. I’m emotionally and mentally preparing to have to retest, but there’s still a little hope.

Hi everyone!

Im so happy to have found this thread! It feels more anxious going through all this alone, LOL! I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna be getting into the Spring 2021 program. I only will have 12 points towards the program ? I got a 77.3 on my TEAS after studying for WEEKS! Literally nothing I studied was on the science section, and that’s what brought me down. I’ve got a 3.4 GPA, but only 5 courses at Goodwin.

It could always be a miracle! But doubtful. I’m just waiting for my denial letter so I can start making relocating plans. I’m planning on moving out of state to be closer to family and transferring my school stuff where I go!

That's annoying to be 0.5% away from having 16 points. Fingers crossed it won't matter and the cutoff will be 15 points. It's been 15 for the past couple of application cycles, so the odds are in favor of it happening again!!

Hi everyone! I just read through this post, thank you for all the info! I too am worried that they’re not going to count Summer 2020 classes. Hopefully they do because it puts me over the “point jump” to get in. I applied to gateway 4 years ago with a 3.97 GPA, 82.6 TEAS, and they do not have a point system. I was 23rd on the waitlist out of 600 that year! I also will have my Bachelors by end of 2020!

The CC system is SO bogged down with nursing applicants. So...that is when I turned to Goodwin. I also think the point system is a little strange LOL. I never heard of it before Goodwin. But the only thing I DO like about the point system is that you can almost gage if your getting in or not BEFORE the letter comes! So if you have a high GPA, TEAS, and points...you’re good. So this “round” of applying I submitted with a 78.9 on my TEAS, 3.93 GPA, and 18 points. Fingers crossed...ALREADY watching for the mail. Ugh!

I also contacted my advisor asking what the cut off is for points. I’ll post back if I hear!

It sounds like you’re a shoe-in for a spot! I just wanted to ask why you think they wouldn’t count Summer 2020 classes? ? If they don’t count Summer 2020 classes, then I’m not getting in ?

Well I have 18 pts if my recent semester counts. And my ad is or said I have 18 going into my application...so I think it does count. But I read in here that the same semester as the application submission doesn’t count ??‍♀️

Girl you’ll definitely get in with 18 points, if you don’t get an acceptance letter make sure you call because a few people last application had 18 points and didn’t get in because they made a mistake on their end!

I just asked my advisor, I’m going to be really annoyed if that’s the case ☺️?

Has anyone talked to their advisor or gotten an update or anything? I know it’s getting closer to the time where they should be mailing out letters. I’m so impatient

Just heard back! It does count towards our applications!

Hey everybody, my advisor got back to me. She said that she doesn’t know the point cut off and won’t know until we know. Which I am assuming is when we get our letters. She said by end of the month we should know!

Really, by the end of the month? I would think it would be coming sooner than that. My advisor last told me it would be mid-October and I heard that we would get letters before registration opened up? I could be wrong, but I’m not sure.
