Goodwin University Spring 2021

I wanted to make this for everyone applying this Spring! I attached the point guide to the post!


I just submitted my application and am waiting to sign up for my TEAS. What is everyone using to prepare? I have very bad test anxiety and horrible ADHD but have managed to make it this far with decent grades. What do you guys have for points? GPA’s? I’m really intimidated by the point system because I didn’t transfer in with 60+ credits! I read through some of the old posts for applicants and I’ve seen people being accepted with points as low as 15 so I’m crossing my fingers.

Have you taken your TEAS yet? I applied but I know I won’t make it in the Spring. They don’t count the semester you applied in, so there goes all of my points ? but I will definitely be reactivating my application for the Summer 2021 cohort!

I haven't! Have you? I am scheduled for it soon! I need to get at least an 80 on my TEAS to have 17 points which to me feels like not a lot of points and is intimidating me so I'll be applying to Capital's program in November when their application process opens up.

What do you mean this semester doesn't count? Were you a transfer student? What points will you miss out on? The grades that are C or better acquired at Goodwin points?

Yeah, I got an 84.7% on my TEAS. I always get nervous that I didn’t do well enough to make the cut. 

Well I will only have 10 points because supposedly the application submitted for the Spring 2021 cohort doesn’t count the courses and everything I did for the semester that just passed, the Summer 2020 semester. When I apply for the Summer 2021 cohort, I will have 19 points and a 4.0 GPA. 
 

Is it true that they don’t count the semester that just passed or was that not true?

That's weird, I'm not sure honestly. My Summer semester must have counted because I took my A&P2 and such this past semester and I'm allowed to apply! I would call and confirm that because if it didn't count I technically wouldn't even be able to apply but I am. What did you use to study for the TEAS? Did you transfer in to Goodwin with a degree/60 credits?

I used the Kaplan Test Prep book to study for the TEAS. It’s amazing! 
 

So the breakdown for the 19 points for the Summer 2021 cohort is 2 points for 60 credits, 6 points for 6 courses, 4 points for a 4.0 GPA and 7 points for an 84.7% on my TEAS.

You should definitely get in with that! I’m worried because I didn’t transfer in with 60 credits so I’m ***ed for that category. GPA is 0.1 point away from 3.8 so I’m annoyed but whatever. The most I can get (unless I do crazy good on my TEAS) is like... 17 ? out of 25 makes me feel like a damn failure lmao

You’re not a failure! 17 points is a good amount especially for the Spring 2021. You’ll definitely get in before me LOL I think last cohort was 15 points. If it’s 15 points again, you’ll definitely get in! Don’t get too worried yet ? Just try to kill it on your TEAS!

Thank you for that! You should really call and find out if the most recent semester counts! This whole process is very odd compared to other schools! Are you going to apply anywhere else?

Yeah, I’ll have to check. It is a weird process LOL but anything to get into nursing school. I was also going to put in an application to northwestern community college just in case, I don’t make it into Goodwin. But fingers crossed that I will! So nerve wrecking ?

I'm closer to Northwestern than I am Capital I was actually considering just going there as well. I will have to look up the differences between the schools! It really is nerve wrecking LOL I'm so stressed out baseline now because of this.

I called today and my advisor said I have 19 points! So fingers crossed ? she also said results would be probably released mid to late October. I’m super nervous now, knowing I might have a shot!
