I'm moving to Boston soon and am wondering if anybody might have some suggestions for good oncology units in the area. I'm looking for a unit with a good nurse manager, a great staff and fun atmosphere... Aka the ideal unit! They do exist, I'm working on one now! But I also do know that they can be pretty hard to find. My experience is primarily in hematology, but I'm open to other oncology areas if there is a great unit out there!! I would appreciate any suggestions or to hear experiences people
may have had. Thanks in advance!

The big cancer center up here is Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This is 100% outpatient, however. Patients who need inpatient care are admitted to Brigham and Women's Hospital. Mass General also has a large cancer program, one of the first proton beam radiation centers in the country and the only one in the state. Beth Israel Deaconness is another Harvard hospital. I have a friend who works in Heme/Onc there but overall I think their program is smaller than DFCI/BWH or MGH. I'm not sure about Tufts or Boston Medical Center for Oncology. Outside of Boston, UMass Memorial in Worcester probably has the biggest program.

The Brigham has some great units, know several nurses on the ONC floors there.
It is a very very competitive market. You will need a ton of experience and hopefully an inside connection.
