good grades=passing?

Published

I was wondering..if a person has had good grades (A-B) throughout school consistantly, are the odds good that they'll pass the NCLEX? Does one have anything to do with the other? Our med-surg teacher tried to make all her tests NCLEX-style & difficulty, and I got an A (highest in the class), so I'm hoping that means I'll do well on the boards.

Luckily, my school used only NCLEX style questions on our exams. Many people freaked over the first exam when they "met" an NCLEX question for the first time.

I took the test Monday, and I am going bonkers now. No results yet due to transcripts not being submitted. I have no clue of how I did..not even a guess. I only had 75 questions, and many were just plain flat strange. On several, I felt like none of the four answers was a good one so I did the "eeny meeny miney moe" thing! :imbar

I did maintain excellent grades throughout the nursing program and never scored lower than a 90% on an exam. I am hoping and praying that this carried over to the NCLEX!!!!

Oh Lord, how awful. Please let us know how you did.

And the Board let you take the exam without a full set of transcripts submitted? Most BONs had stopped that practice, at least I had thought, because there has always been a student or two that didn't pass a class in the end.

I got straight A's in school and have not passed the NCLEX yet after two tries. It doesn't matter if you get straight A's, I know of people who passed the test with C's and never cracked a book in school. I am so frustrated right now and scared to take it again. I feel as though it is not fair that they passed and I haven't. I know I am a good nurse, but i just can not pass the **** test. Oh well, 3rd time is a charm right?

I know how you feel. I'm in th same situation. Got great grades, deans list, never had problems w/ exams, but the NCLEX!!!!!!!! This will also be my 3rd time taking it...so good luck to you!!! Maybe it was the false reassurance that we had thinking we did great in school so we will do great on the test...so grades doesnt matter!

PM me and let me know how you're studying for the 3rd time.

Good luck to you...soon we will be RN's!!!

Yes. Our nursing school sends the BRN a list of expected graduates. That is how the BRN determines eligibility. I received my eligibility to test less than a week after graduating.

If I would have known that my results would be held like this, I most likely would have waited longer to take the test. Maybe. I would have stressed about waiting to though so it's really a no-win situation for a chronic worrier like me!!

I do think that the BRN should either wait until the final transcripts are received to allow us to test or have some kind of unofficial result that can be released.
