Good-bye UT-A. Hello WGU.

Nursing Students Western Governors

After finding out that only 10 of my 250 college/university/graduate credits would apply towards UT-A's RN-BSN program, I decided to apply to .

I'm still in the initial stages of the application process. I just submitted transcripts and plan to take the Readiness Assessment this weekend.

I've been assigned an advisor, and she is AWESOME. She could not be more kind, and she answers all of questions that I email to her almost immediately. I'm really looking forward to starting this program. :)

See you in school- I start next week Thursday and can't wait. My goal is to be done with my BSN by Christmas!

betterme- they agreed to take partial transfer of those classes so all i will need to complete will be the lab portions of each. i also have to do nutrition (easy!!) and biochem and then all i have are the core bsn classes to complete. i plan to be done by christmas.

Did you graduate from EC, I'm sure you said that? Did you graduate with an ASN degree? If so, how come you have to take Nutrition? Shouldn't Nutrition be one of the courses that would have been taught if you graduated with a nursing degree. They haven't given me an evaluation of my credits yet.

Welcome, fellow GSU student!

Sweettart - I'm doing nutrition right now. It's an objective assessment (test, rather than essays/papers) so even though I just started, I've requested to take the exam next week. I figure I have three chances to take the exam, so if I don't pass it next week, I'll just take it again in a few weeks.

I also have to do Biochem, and then I'll be onto the core nursing courses. That's ambitious for you to try to do it in one term! I'm giving myself two full terms (which would put my graduation at the end of June).

I can't speak for Sweettart, but I took a 1-credit nutrition class for my ADN program ("Nutrition for Nurses" it was called). told me it wasn't good enough, so that's why I have to repeat it.

Klone, I took Chemistry 4-credits, do you think I have to take Biochemistry? It looks like I have to take Nutrition as well, I didn't take a Nutrition course.

I need my evaluation done already. My employer reimburses for tuition, I was hoping I could finish in one term but it looks like two full terms.

I'm guessing they will probably accept your Chemistry course. I never took a college Chemistry course, so that's why I need to take it now (bleh).

Sweettart - Thank-you.. You were part of my inspiration to switch schools. When one school isn't a good fit, time to move on to one that is! When I spoke with my advisor the other day, she said that one student finished this program in 3 months! Apparantly, the student wasn't working and was able to devote all her time to working on the courses.

BetterMe - Thank-you.. I'm not sure how many classes I'll have to take yet, but most likely Biochem, Stats, and Nutrition. I'm hoping to start in October. I'm wondering about the Nutrition class too. In my RN program, we had to buy a Nutrition book and used it for each class throughout the program. Too bad we weren't awarded credit for that.

Thank-you, Klone!

KrysyRN -- good grief, I've finally met someone with more credits than me!! LOL. 220+ and counting. :D Good for you for making the leap -- I did the same thing when I was doing my BSN, when the school I was looking at started making all these credit demands ... ummm, nope.

Everyone on the Distance forum really seems to enjoy , and I hope you do as well. :)

Yes as previously stated, I have my ASN.

I have completed a nutrition class, however, they said it wasn't a full 3 credits (or whatever it needs to be) and I will simply have to re-take it again. I am sure it will be a simple class so I am not worried about it at all.
