Can anyone point me in the direction of good nursing agencies for getting over to the States, and at the same time PLEASE tell me who are to be avoided. Dont know the good from the bad, and the only names i know are from google searches.

Cheers folks.

I already have CGFNS exam passed and visascreen certificate. How do I go about identifying and approaching possible petitioners/ sponsors. Is email bad manners, do I need to telephone or write, what info do they need initially?

So many questions!!!!!

email is not a bad manner...if you want to ask more questions you can phone them too

Is it just NY state which works through vermont service center, or do other states use this center? (their processing is very up to date whereas Texas is over 12months behind!) Thinking of applying for ATT via vermont center then endorsing a=elsewhere.

Any info would be greatfully accepted!

Where you get your initial licensure is not the factor, but where the hospital or agency is that has hired you. The processing centers are based on where the job is, nothing to do where you have your license or originally got it.

Whoever petitions you for your green card, their location will be the deciding factor.

Hope that this helps clear up any misconceptions. :balloons:

If nurses do not sign-up with an agency and do it themselves, how long does the process take of sitting the exams and obtaining a visa? How much does it approximately cost? Do you have to sit both the cgfns exam and the nclex? Can you now sit the exams in the UK? How easy is it to get a hospital to sponsor you for a green card? Sorry to ask all these questions, but have found very conflicting opinions on agencies and not really sure what to do for the best.

takes a loooooong time! you have to be persistent, take it from one who's going through it at the moment :o

Cost - $225 for CES $325 for visascreen $190 state license application $200 for NCLEX exam..........

It depends on which state you are applying to whether you sit CGFNS, some states don't require that exam but all states do require NCLEX........

Yes, you can now sit NCLEX in London........

Apply to a hospital who is prepared to petition for your green card

Good luck :)

Tina

PS I would still recommend going it alone without an agency, it will be quicker and you will be more in control of where you want to work, but then you have to fund yourself, a small price to pay IMO in the grand scheme of things

I agree with Tina and I also don't think the time would be any different as most depends on the time of your greencard being process by what immigration centre as some are working quicker than others

I would recommend that if you do not need the cgfns exam just concentrate on the NCLEX. cgfns exam is not required in most states where a the nclex is required by all. have you tried doing a search on cgfns on this site as I am sure there are a few threads that will answer any questions

dylan, it depends on the state where you intend to work. Some states do not require the CGFNS exam, I have the info somewhere, just can't think where at the moment :uhoh3: but will try to find it for you.

Your question is a little unclear - do you mean do you have to 'physically' sit the CGFNS exam in the states?

As you are considering multiple states, I would advise you to contact the State boards of Nursing in question to determine if they require the CGFNS exam, the only ones I am sure do not require it are Florida, California & New York but there may be others, I am not certain.

You do not have to travel to the US to sit the exam, it is held at over 40 locations worldwide. Have a look at www.cgfns.org

Is it travel nursing you are thinking of?

Hey how do you apply for a greencard on your own?? I'm thinking of going through the process myself and from what i am told it goes like this - pl let me know if its different

-Apply for NCLEX (only 5 or 6 states dont require CGFNS - CA, NY, Florida, Maryland, Vermont dont knwo the rest)

- Apply for CES (evaluate ur credentials)

- Pass NCLEX

- Pass English exams (i did nursing education in sweden so it is reqd)

- An interim license is issued and need some social no to get complete license

How does one go about doing the immigration without a sponsor??? my friend went to an agency and they are paying for her greencard and in lieu she will work for the hospital for 1.5 yrs - thats not bad its a short period. what do other agencues require?

pl let me more.....can someone make this easy
