qualifying course before register with crnbc
Hi i am a uk nurse who needs to complete a qualifying course in maternity/obstetrics as there is a shortfall in the hours I completed in my nurse training in the UK. hoping to move to vancouver where i have a job offer. CRNBC gave me a list of colleges in Vancouver who runs courses and I would need to be in Canada to complete them. I think they take about 4 mths. This would mean that I would need to go over to Vancouver to complete the course as a student with no income as I would not be able to work as a nurse until I registered. This is something which I could not afford and I dont know what to donext. Has anyone else has similar problems PLEASE HELP!! dylan101 is online now Warn: (0%) Edit/Delete Message

qualifying course for uk nurse to register with crnbc before moving to vancouver
Hi everyone. I am in the process of moving to vancouver, already have job offer. However CRNBC stated that there is a shortfall in obstetric hours from my nurse training and have advised a course to satisfy their requirements. I understand that I must do this course before they would consider issuing me with a temporary work visa and this can be done in the UK. I am a bit astounded with the CRNBC as I am a nurse specialist with over 15 yeas experience and have a degree in nursing I feel that this is all red tape. I am not even going to be working in the field of maternity so why would they want me to do extra hours etc. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Your experiences and comments would be very much appreciated.

not enough maternity hours
Can anyone help please! I have been offered a job in Vancouver as a community home care nurse but the Canadian nursing board (CRNBC) have notified me that I do not have enough practical and theory hours in Maternity. I understand that this is a requirement in order to register as a nurse in order to practice in Canada. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so how did they solve it? thanks

usa hospital hiring without using agency
Hi I am a community cardiac nurse specialist with 6+ years experience in ITU and 3 years experience in cardiology. All the agencies I have contacted all say that I would need to go back to ITU for at least 12 months to have up to date experience before they would consider me, but reluctant to do this because it would be a large drop in salary. However I am aware that in order to work in the usa I would have to go back to itu and am fully prepared to do this when I get there. Has any experience nurse applied direct to hospitals and been offered a job and sponsorship without this golden 12mths current experience. I have passed my nclex and would appreciate anyone sharing their experience of contacting hospitals direct for sponsorship rather than agencies.

just sat the nclex exam!!
I got my results within 1 business day. You need to pay $7.95 on the pearson vue website and they give you a provisional result. It was money well spent as I couldn't wait 3-4 weeks. Good luck to you!

just sat the nclex exam!!
I know many of you have heard all this before, but would like some honest opinions! computer stopped at 75 questions and the majority of them were prioritising the most needy of patients or major incidents with the best patient to discharge to create empty beds. How do you think I have done? I have mixed views, either have done absolutely terrible or passed can you tell by the type of questions I have had to answer. All comments much appreciated

what is needed to pass nclex?
Hi I am sitting my nclex exam next week and am very confused as to what the percentage/number of questions you are required to answer correctly in order to pass. People have passed or failed on 75 -300+ questions, there doesnt seem to be any consistency. I am doing lots of practice questions and my average percentage of correct answers is 75-85%. Do you think that this is encouraging? Can anyone help?

fingerprint cards
Hi Has anyone had trouble getting their fingerprint cards done at their local police station. My local station has never has this request before and advised me that all their fingerprint cards would be kept (I presume of suspected criminals). They also advised me that the American Embassey would probably need to do them! Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

Good and Bad Nurse Agencies for USA

Good and Bad Nurse Agencies for USA
thanks for your reply. just one more question - do you have to sit the cgfns exam in the states?

Good and Bad Nurse Agencies for USA
If nurses do not sign-up with an agency and do it themselves, how long does the process take of sitting the exams and obtaining a visa? How much does it approximately cost? Do you have to sit both the cgfns exam and the nclex? Can you now sit the exams in the UK? How easy is it to get a hospital to sponsor you for a green card? Sorry to ask all these questions, but have found very conflicting opinions on agencies and not really sure what to do for the best.
