What are you planning on doing? Why are you going for the BSN? You would be much further ahead to go for the RN to MSN program and save yourself much time and effort. You have most of the work done already.
I would definitely skip the BSN and go for the MSN, if that is what your goal is to do.
I am from South Africa and did a 4 year diploma in nursing science from a local college. I graduated as a RN and Midwife. I have since moved to the US and have a NY State RN licesce.I have been looking into doing my BSN and it is very confusing. I had my Transcripts evaluated and it said I had a equivalent of a 3 year graduate nurse diploma plus an additional specialization in midwifery. What does that mean?????? Do I just need one more year of college or what?????Has anybody gone thru this??

I worked with two RNs from South Africa who also specialized in Midwifery when they had their transcripts evaluated they both had the equivilent of a BSN. One went right into clinical instructing for the local CC and the other transferred out as soon as her contract was up. It may be worth a try to have them reevaluated.
Good Luck.

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I just don't feel like starting al over with my education.

You have not said what your education consisted of. A university evaluates the course content and compares it to their own requirements. What appears, on the surface to be equal may not be, upon further evaluation. You can ask for a re-evaluation.
I am slightly confused. Was the evaluation done by the NYS BOE or by the program you are applying to? A university and a program generally has guidelines that they follow. The state liciensing board has very strict guidelines they have to adhere to when evaluating educational qualifications, prior to licensing or authorizing an individual to sit for their board.
Hope this answers some of your questions.

The college and program generally has specific criteria upon which they base their evaluation of an individual's transcripts. And U.S. colleges tend to be a bit harder on some types of programs, especially those from a foreign country. This is not to say they are correct. I wouold ask them what they based their evaluation on, specific, was it course content and was the program recognized in your home country?
Good luck
