GMU accelerated BSN Fall 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I am applying to the Fall 2015 program, I know the program is really competetive so I wanted get an idea of what kinds of grades/ scores of others applying. I currently have an overall GPA of 3.3 and a prereq GPA of 3.6. I haven't taken my Hesi-A2 exam yet, but will be taking it tomorrow. I plan on applying to a few other schools as well. How did everyone score on their Hesi exam?

I got an email today as well :) I was really surprised to get the email so soon.

Deej394 -- thanks for sharing your thoughts about the program! Could you share what your class/clinical schedule looked like for the fall semester or this semester? I am wondering how much time is spent on campus vs clinicals.

Thanks!

I just checked my email. I got in! Yippy! Congrats to everyone that got in!

I do have a problem though. I can't see the attachment with the admissions agreement form. I know that there's one; it just isn't showing up once I open the email. Weird!

Hi everyone, my name is Teena. I am new to this forum and it is awesome to see that a lot of people got admitted into the program this Fall. Congratulations!! I, too, received my admission letter through email yesterday and am ecstatic!! GMU was the only program I applied to due to the cost effectiveness and locations of classes. With the excitement, there are little worries thought. I was wondering if anyone have already completed their FAFSA application? I saw that the deadline to complete FAFSA to qualify for state and institutional aid has already passed. I will try to complete mine today to obtain loans. I think I will need to obtain personal loans as well. The program is rigorous so they suggest students not to work during. I am not planning to work, but am worried about the financial implications. Please let me know if anyone is in the same boat as me. Other than that, I just can't wait to start this journey!! And I am especially excited to meet all of you. :)

drdonna- I don't have a problem opening up the admission agreement attachment. I am using a windows computer and opened it on google chrome web browser. I don't know if that makes a difference but maybe try opening it up using a different computer and/or browser. If you still cannot open it, I would call 703-993-1901 and see if they could help.

Congratulations Teena! I am in the same boat as you. I filled out my FAFSA back in February but I will definitely need personal loans as well just to live while I'm in the program. I know Wells Fargo has healthcare related loans and just research and apply for scholarships. We're lucky though to get in this program since it's the cheapest in the area for an Accelerated BSN!

Hey all! Congratulations to all those that have been accepted! I got my email as well yesterday- it was very exciting to hear back. Question for you all, on the admissions contract I have the requirement box checked off for "Bachelor's Degree Mason Core Course (MCC) waiver pending". Does anyone else have that checked off or know what that MCC waiver is exactly? Did any of you have to do anything to get that MCC waiver?

I contacted the admissions office, as noted on the contract, but they almost seem as confused as I am about it.....so wanted to see if anyone else here might have been through the process of receiving that waiver? Thanks!

Hello from Minnesota! I just got my letter of acceptance and am BEYOND excited to be attending GMU this Fall for the accelerated program! I am looking forward to meeting all of you :)

Teena, I too am not planning to work and am going to be relying on loans to get through the year. I have some amazing people that are going to house me for free though, so that will help a LOT. As for everything else though, I'll be pinching pennies. But, its all for the end goal. Just got to keep the end goal in mind and know that it will be worth it when we get there :)

Good luck to all of you until then! See you in August!

Congrats to everyone that have been accepted! I got my acceptance email yesterday too and am so so so excited! Can't wait to meet everyone in August!

Hi Everyone,

I also received my email yesterday saying that I got in! I'm so excited! Talfan, I also have that MCC waiver pending checked off on my agreement as well. I have no idea what it means. The admissions office was not able to give you any insight?

Morjayne4--Thanks. I will definitely look into scholarships as well. And yes we are very lucky and I am very grateful for that.

Trihard90--Thanks for your reply. Where in Minnesota are you from? I graduated from Augsburg College in MN. That's awesome that you have a place to stay without having to pay for housing. Housing here is definitely costly compared to MN.

talfan--I have that box checked off as well because the admissions office is still processing my transfer application and have yet to evaluate my transcripts due to my files being mixed up under a different G #. Have you received admission to GMU as a transfer student yet? If you have, they probably just need to recognize your BA or BS degree as valid and that you do not need to take the core courses at Mason. If you haven't been admitted, you might want to check whether you're missing anything from your GMU transfer application. Good luck.

mnm1018--Congratulations!

**This is nice to hear from people that I will have the pleasure of spending 12 rigorous months with..haha It would be nice to know everyone's name though. :)

@al591 or anyone else that read my prior post, nevermind- someone in the admissions office just clarified that I did get the waiver already by having a prior bachelor's degree.

I was just confused by the wording on the contract. On a second reread of that requirement, it appears that I just had to submit a Mason admissions application that stated I had the bachelor's degree. So likely no further action needed on my part, but if anyone else heard differently, please let me know.

Thank you for the clarification. I did email the admissions office about it as well, but haven't heard back yet. I'll let you know if I hear anything differently. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I'm still on cloud nine. I didn't think I would get accepted, as my grades and HESI scores weren't the best. I guess the video and essay helped out a lot! Congratulations to all that have been accepted. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone this coming August!
