  1. hey, does anyone know when we'll get the financial aid packages? Or did anyone already see their FA package up on the myaccess website? I know the last email said "will be available soon", but I'm a bit anxious about that - that's the big factor i'm waiting on for Georgetown. If there's no scholarships/grants, there's no way I can afford the $89k tuition on just loans alone....anyone else besides me worried or know whether GU will offer grants/scholarships? @minddong - thanks for making the facebook group! can't find the group through searching that name on facebook though. did everyone else find it ok?
  2. @NikkiG995 - Congrats on your acceptance! I've been thinking a lot about the best places to live too, but am still unsure myself. If you end up living in Foggy Bottom and taking the metro, your commute would look to be about 40 minutes on one line (Silver line) from Foggy Bottom to Wiehle-Reston, followed by 30 minutes on the GW Shuttle (Wiehle express) to campus. @Phineas - thanks for the detailed response. It's helpful! I was actually looking into Rosslyn because, as you mentioned, costs were pretty cheap there and it still was relatively close to DC., but I'm glad to hear another opinion. I'm also considering the other option of just living close to the Ashburn campus (perhaps even the apartments within walking distance). In the end, I think my big criteria might be saving time on commuting...so leaning towards being closer to the end of the silver line...but still not sure.
  3. Hi CHBlake, Yes, I'll be there, too! Glad to hear another person on here will be going. I'm looking forward to meeting the people who might be my future classmates!
  4. @Phineastalisker, just curious why do you recommend avoiding Rosslyn?
  5. hey cbeard, i think i'm the person you're referring to that mentioned the two reviews. The deadlines for the two reviews are on the MU site: Marymount University - Admission Requirements So, what I think this means is, if your application was considered complete before March 13th, then you'll probably in the first review. Otherwise, you might be in the second review. Also, the projected notification dates I gave earlier were from a handout they gave during an information session I went to on campus, but I guess those dates can be subject to change since they were just projections. Either way, I do hope you hear back sooner rather later!
  6. Hello all, congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far! Have any of you decided that you're going to GWU this fall for sure? Is anyone planning on attending the admit student day later this month? Also, good luck to those who are still waiting! Hope good news is in store for you all!
  7. Congrats @R_4611 and @dvth15! I just heard good news from them too!
  8. Is anyone going to the Mason Patriot Prelude for Admitted Student this Friday? Wondering if it's worth going to. @al591 Thanks so much, Amanda, for the info on the MCC waiver! I appreciate you confirming with admissions! Likewise, I'll let you know if I find out anything about getting a Mason email. (But I assume you'll probably get to that before me since you've submitted the deposit already). I'm still waiting to hear back from a few other schools, so I'm holding off on sending the deposit for now. However, there seems to be at least a couple of you that are heading back to Mason after having done a previous degree there- so I think that's a good sign that you all are willing to come back! :)
  9. @al591 or anyone else that read my prior post, nevermind- someone in the admissions office just clarified that I did get the waiver already by having a prior bachelor's degree. I was just confused by the wording on the contract. On a second reread of that requirement, it appears that I just had to submit a Mason admissions application that stated I had the bachelor's degree. So likely no further action needed on my part, but if anyone else heard differently, please let me know.
  10. Hey all! Congratulations to all those that have been accepted! I got my email as well yesterday- it was very exciting to hear back. Question for you all, on the admissions contract I have the requirement box checked off for "Bachelor's Degree Mason Core Course (MCC) waiver pending". Does anyone else have that checked off or know what that MCC waiver is exactly? Did any of you have to do anything to get that MCC waiver? I contacted the admissions office, as noted on the contract, but they almost seem as confused as I am about it.....so wanted to see if anyone else here might have been through the process of receiving that waiver? Thanks!
  11. @cbeard...if you got everything in by the first review, the projected notification date is April 10. If you're in the second review, the projected notification date is June 26.
  12. Hi NPVS92, just wondering-- how did you confirm that they received all your info? Did you call and speak to the nursing counselor?
  13. @mnm1018 - Thanks for the response and for sharing the info you got from GMU! Wow, beginning of May is a long wait considering we sent in applications in January . Do you know which GMU campus we would be spending the majority of our class time? As for your other questions, I'll PM you.
  14. @secquoria - actually, you're right...I think I was mis-remembering. I went to both the Universities at Shady Grove open house and the UMSON specific open house in Baltimore...the Shady Grove info session was the more application process oriented session, which made it more application timeline specific. On the other hand, the Baltimore open house had the student panel and talked more about the program generally. There was also a booth with housing info. So yeah, would probably be good for any prospective student regardless of timeline. Would recommend for those who haven't gone. There was also free breakfast too :).
  15. This thread for GMU ABSN Fall 2015 was pretty hard to find, maybe it should be moved to the Virginia nursing forum for more responses? The pre-nursing forum gets pretty inundated so it's hard to filter through all of it. @mnm1018 I applied to all the same schools you did as well. Congrats on your acceptance to GW so far! Since you went to school at GMU before, I was wondering if you've seen the nursing school facilities (unfortunately they didn't offer a tour during the information sessions). If so, do you know how GMU's lab facilities compare to those offered at Marymount or GW? I read in a thread for fall 2014 that GMU tends to say that they'll have decisions out later in April, but they could have it delivered as early as the end of March. However, for 2013, people received letters around mid-April. I'm hoping for news around that time because that's when I anticipate hearing from other schools!
