Gloucester County College Nursing HESI exam question

Published

:typing Hi everyone!! Im applying to GCC nursing program this fall 2009. I have heard that its very competitive and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they got on there HESI exam, which got them into the program? The minimum that they need just to apply is 75%, I got an 81% and am concerned that my average will not be high enough to secure me a spot for the fall. Any insight is appreciated!! Congratulations to all who are currently enrolled in the nursing program and good luck to all those who are applying!

Sincerely Thank you

Angelina:D

I'm also applying to gcc's nursing program. I had to pick up transcripts the other day and there must have been like 5 or 6 people dropping off their applications... made me nervous :-(

I got an B in A+PII and and 88 overall on the HESI with a 94 on reading comprehension... do you guys think I have a shot??

Don't be nervous, you have an excellent shot. I applied with 900 total applicants and was accepted with grades similar to yours. Best of luck to you.

I know!!! The reading comp seemed like they were "trick questions"!! I always got it narrowed down to 2 obvious answers and then guessed.:)

Welcome to nursing school, no matter where you go! This is exactly how you're tested in classes, and on the HESI exit exam you have to take at the end to graduate, AND the NCLEX.

I'm in my last semester at GCC nursing! Woot! Here's a little tip for you...nearly every question you'll be asked on quizzes, tests, future HESIs and other NCLEX-like testing you have to do during your four semesters: THERE ARE ALMOST ALWAYS TWO (or in some cases, three or four) CORRECT ANSWERS. Your job is to figure out the BEST answer because more often than not, there's more than one "right" answer, more than one "right" thing to do. Does this make sense? It's a lot to swallow -- this will be unlike any schooling you've ever done.

Best of luck to you. If you have further questions about the program, feel free to PM me! GOOD LUCK! :yeah:

Good luck to all this year's applicants, by the way! When's the deadline, and when do you guys find out?

I'm in my last semester at GCC nursing!

Heeeeeeeeeellllllllllloooooooooo fellow 4th semester :wink2:

DIC, are you for real? I'm just sort of curious. If you've got "decades" of experience, why are you in your first year of nursing school? And you have a lot of specialties? Pretty impressive for a nursing student!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but just be aware that no matter how awesome your HESIs and science scores are, the only thing that affects whether or not you make the cut is where you fall on the ratings and rankings. You could be 5th on the list or 500th. Does that make sense? A previous poster made the comment that they plug your numbers into an excel spreadsheet and the first 120? 130? (I have no idea how many students they admit per year now) are the ones that get in. That's it. It's just plain, simple math, so no one can tell you, "Oh, you'll have no problem getting in with those scores," etc. I've heard it asked here, I've heard it asked at student services...no one can tell you until the application deadline has passed and they've plugged in the numbers. Sorry. The experience of a previous student won't compare to your acceptance process because you're dealing with a whole different pool of applicants this year. Make sense? Just do your best, cross your fingers, and hope and pray that you did better than the majority of applicants. Sadly, there's no way to know if you did or not until you get that letter in the mail! I sincerely wish you all the best of luck!

DIC, who ARE you? LOL! You can't be fourth semester -- we didn't have to take the HESI entrance exam, just the NET. This year's second semester students were the first ones who had to submit HESI scores...

So who are you? PM me. I know MOST of the 4th semester males, if not all...

I'm an enigma in the world of nursing. When you and I had applied, 900 others have as well and 130 were picked so a belated congrats :wink2:. I'm in my last semester just like yourself; we are in the same class:lghmky:

Don't worry about that Hess, there are 165 "real" questions in the test, not those made up by our extremely happy staff. Half of our midterm questions made no sense at all.:uhoh21:

Of course, I was referring to 1st year students...and I'm a female by the way....I'm still meeting new classmates each week it seems:coollook:
