Gloucester County College Nursing HESI exam question

Published

:typing Hi everyone!! Im applying to GCC nursing program this fall 2009. I have heard that its very competitive and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they got on there HESI exam, which got them into the program? The minimum that they need just to apply is 75%, I got an 81% and am concerned that my average will not be high enough to secure me a spot for the fall. Any insight is appreciated!! Congratulations to all who are currently enrolled in the nursing program and good luck to all those who are applying!

Sincerely Thank you

Angelina:D

They give you those reading assignments to get you ready for the first day of class because you have a full lecture that day.

I made it through the program without having ever read one single chapter because I focused on two aspects of nursing curriculum: medical terminology (if you know the prefix, suffix, and root word of commonly-used medical terms, you are already ahead of the game), and pathophysiology. Patho is the key to passing nursing school.

Saunder's 4th edition NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review and Fundamentals Success are the most important books you could read this summer.

They are all you need to prepare yourself for the upcoming semester.

Good luck, you made it this far. . .

Nurse Leroy, What did you study the pathophysiology from? I already have Saunders NCLEX-RN 5th addition, Fundamentals Success and my Medical Terminology book. I intend to start reading around the last of my pre-Nursing classes and would like to fit patho in there, too! Does anyone else have any study tips?

That Saunder's book is a fabulous foundation for your scholastic success.

Does anyone know what books were used in the Fall 2010 Nursing 130 & Nursing 131? I would like to buy them to study over the summer. I start the program in Fall 2011 and I like to be prepared.:)

SJerseygrle, how do you know you got in? you didn't get your letter yet did you? Or are you just really confident that you got in? Good luck!

Some time between April and June, if this still holds true, you will receive your syllabus in the mail outlining what books are required and recommended.

Also, your homework assignments that are due on the first days of class and laboratory will be discussed.

Orientation was held August.

I just came across this post- I REALLY want to get into Goucester and I scored a 90% overall, my science average is a B between Bio and Chem. My lowest score was vocab (84%), and that's making me nervous. My critical thinking wasn't great either. Since this is an old post I was hoping maybe some of you could give me some insight?

Thanks!

It would benefit you to have an A as your course sent as part of the admissions package; an A would definitely hold "that much more weight." :twocents:

I don't have time to retake my sciences, I am currently graduating with my bachelors degree somewhere else and it's too much in order to finish- but are you in the program? Do you think I have a chance? I would prefer to have an A but I have to deal with what I have it's frustrating.

I am currently in the program and among a dozen people whose scores I know, one did get in with a 'B' in their science grade. A few got in with lower HESI scores and 'A' in their sciences. So which holds the heavier weight is anybody's guess. If you had an 'A' in science I'd guess you had a great chance with your test score. I do think you have a chance with what you have now. Maybe you could take the HESI again and get your scores up even higher to compensate for the 'B'? Good luck either way!

With being close to earning a B.A./B.S., an Accelerated BSN program is your best alternative. :twocents:
