Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

I'm just as obsessed. That's why I'm on here when I should have been finishing up, lol.

I don't think we need both versions of RNotes though. I think that's their way of letting us know both are available and we need one.

I just ordered some of the books from Amazon. It was too much to resist, lol!

Your probably right momtofore, i calculated all the books through amazon, bn, and gcc bookstore.... and i came to about 430$.... which isn't too bad I guess lol.... which book did you buy from amazon cynthia?

Bought my all white New Balances! With the sale and online coupon I printed out they were just $38. I need them for my high arches and wider toe area. They should be sufficient for at least the first year.

I already have Fundamentals Success (got it last year). I ordered Fundamentals of Nursing, Clinical Calculations, Davis's Drug Guide and Ulrich and Canale's Nursing Care Planning Guide. I'm waiting on the others until I find out if I get awarded a book scholarship or not.

I ordered the penlights this morning.

That ought to hold me for a little while, lol.

Off to take the dogs for a walk and then cook some chicken stir fry...

ah momtofore, you did better than me..... i'm so bad.... I bought all the books already lol except the two that are recommended not required. The price wasn't that bad..... but I'm the kind of person who likes to look through the books before the program begins. I purchased the online nursing skills through the college website and I purchased some books through bn.com and amazon. No more spending for me! At least not until I need to ;)

I'll do a lot of reading this summer, too. It's scheduled in. But I didn't want to spend money I might be able to get with a scholarship. I'll know in June. Then I'll be buying the rest either way!!

I applied for scholarships too but I'm not sure if I'll actually get anyway, I did it kind of last minute lol. I had so many other things on my plate. I know I'll be doing a lot of reading too! I may sound weird but I love hardcover books and I love when you first open a book and it's brand new and the pages are all glossy..... it even smells nice.... haha i'll stop now :D

Here is the link to the first of a series of videos for some skills we'll be learning.

5 more days until registration! :w00t:

i found some nursing skills on youtube as well using the Sim man.... which seem pretty informative.

Here's a series from Nursing at Lincoln Land Community College. I was looking at Intramuscular shots all morning and IV boluses all last night, lol. Hmm, wonder what I should watch tonight!
