i just spoke with the Lady from GCC Nursing Staff. They sent out the invites for TEAS on Thursday April 19th. for those who are 2nd time applying, we all will get letters (accepted, not accept) by May 10.

Good luck

hi DEnisenike,

Did any alternate have luck ? :D how many ppl were there? Good luck :D

Orientation was nice, very informative. At first everyone seemed so tense but after the prof warmed us up, it was more relaxed. Nice diverse group of people. And honestly, yes it will be a lot of work, but I welcome it!
Good! I was just there to pick up some stuff and was talking to ----------....I will moat likely be there in a few weeks to talk to you guys and answer any questions for you

SoCalCrystal, I think I felt the same way about GCC vs. COC as you felt about GCC vs. LAVC. Having attended the COC orientation last month, I feel like this orientation with ------------- was much more personable and intimate. She did a good job of giving us just enough information, but not overwhelming us! I also like that she was attuned to the fact that we really wanted to know what to expect schedule-wise. ----------------- was very specific with us...I now have an actual day/time frame that I can look forward to for Fall. I am excited to start next week, and just need to go get my bundle of books! Denise, I almost went back over the bridge to go to the bookstore, but decided to let that $209 sit in my bank account for an extra day. :) Haha! But, can't wait too long---gotta start reading those chapters!! :uhoh3:

That woman is my idol!I can't wait to meet you all!

does anyone know when the next application period for GCC is? I cant seem to find it online.

thanks!

For the accepted applicants good job guys! I am so envious at this point.. I am interested in applying for the Spring 2014 semester as I still have both micro and physio to take. I am enrolled in micro for this fall with Tomasek so I am really nervous because this is the only class that hasn't filled up. What were your TEAS and GPA scores? I am curious to know if I'll ever be able to be considered for the GCC program.

Is there a weekend evening and weekend day program? What are the hours for the traditional program? Thanks!

Most of the people I have talked to have at least a 3.4 GPA in all their courses. But that's not a lot of people given the fact most don't talk about their GPA's. I had exactly 3.4. Also, TEAS is very important. I got a 82% which is pretty good, contrary to all the grading we've ever known. Dont stress too much. GCC is one of the last schools in the Los Angeles County to send acceptance letters so much students who applied already accepted Nursing School somewhere else rather than decline and risk a denial at Glendale. I know lots of students where were either alternates or denied all together and then got phone calls to come to the program, almost as if they were desperate to fill seats. They have a night and weekend program but in the summer and winter sessions we all are in the same classed which are from noon to afternoon. Weekend evening during the full semesters are more exactly evening and weekend! Good luck and apply to as many schools as possible. I know Med students who are using community college nursing schools as a plan b!

Hey careohanian,

The best way to see if you have a chance at GCC is to download the Chancellor's Formula spreadsheet. GCC has it up on their page (Glendale Community College : Selection Process).

Just plug in your overall GPA, GPA for the core science (bio, anatomy, phys), English GPA, and the number of repetitions for any of the science classes. If you get a 75% or higher, then you'll go on to the next round. The TEAS usually knocks some people off and those who pass (62%+) move on to the final selection. It's random at that point. So a perfect 4.0 and 100% on the TEAS is still no guarantee. So don't throw in the towel yet. Get A's in Micro and Phys and you should have a shot.

Good luck!
