GHC Fall Semester 2009

Published

GHC fall semester is going great! Lots and lots of fun. How do you guys in Marietta like your instructors?

penny. lane - GHC says the spring program is more competitive than the fall because of the limited number of available slots. Since the worksheet has been changed lately, can you tell me about how many B's you had when you applied? I'm trying to get an idea of the grades necessary for acceptance. I've read that we will get notice about the end of Oct, is that about right? Thanks for your help. It's really nice of you to come back to this site and help all of us with questions!!

in the most important science prereqs I have A, B, B

and I'm not sure I remember the rest but my GPA was pretty high when I applied. Yes my class when we got started was only about 40 people.. I wouldn't freak out too much though I have talked to people who had a lot of Bs and they got in with me. It really just depends :p Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Yes I found out end of October, maybe early November.

and when I got in..I got a thick envelope so watch out for it ;)

Yay!!! Congrats Everyone!!! We all kicked butt on Test #2!!!!! I am so proud of us!!!:yeah::w00t::yelclap::dncgbby::dncgcpd::ancong!:

:yeahthat: I think we are actually giong to make it through!!!

Thanks HopeforMelissa and Penny.Lane. I will be checking back in when I get my package. See my positive thoughts... LOL

I am going to start my prereqs probably summer 2010. I would love to start in Spring so that I can apply to the program sooner, BUT I am pregnant and due January 7th... even if I could do only online courses for Spring, I really really really want to be sure I make the best grades possible, so I'm thinking it might not be a good time to start! You guys have me so excited! I hope all the nursing classes are as active on here as you are! I actually read the previous thread where you were waiting on your letters, and I think got just as nervous and excited as you all did rofl. It was almost like watching a movie! I still can't believe I somehow never heard of GHC until recently. I was considering going out of state (TN) which would not only be out-of-state tuition, but a longer drive for me. So glad I found GHC!:heartbeat

I had my head, neck, skin, and neuro assessment check off this morning. I kicked its butt! I am SO glad that is over with. Now I can concentrate on the Clinical Calculations pass/fail test and test number 3. I took 10 pages of notes on Pharmacology....just on anticonvulsants/depressants/stimulants this weekend!!!! Way too much information.

Even with all of the STRESS and emotional draining and studying nonstop, I am LOVING nursing school. I can't wait until clincals start.

Klrmom...good luck with your delivery. I bet you thought we were all looney when you read back on that other post where we were all waiting on our letters. Geez...I look back on that now and think "Man, that was a piece of cake compared to now." lol

Melissa: can you elaborate on the assessment...like what all you had to do...did you have to document your findings?? I am stressed about it. I have to do mine next Tues..right after the test..yuck!!

yeah yeah.. hopeformelissa... WHAT did you do?? lol

We had to do all of the little tests involved:

lymph nodes

TMJ

capillary refill

check uvula

check tongue

pupil size

convergence

PERRLA

whisper test

Rinne test

Weber test

light touch/dull tough

1 touch/2 touch

familiar object test

drawing in the hand test (forgot what its technical name is)

alternating fingers test

strength x 7 test

finger thumb test

gait

tandem

Romberg test

pronator drift

reflexes

smell test

reading check

Snellen chart

color blindness

thyroid

peripheral vision

(I'm sure there are a few more that I'm forgetting.)

We could lay out our table with our instruments any way we wanted to, but the rest of it was up to us....the WHOLE exam. She would give us one or two hints if we only forgot one or two things.

We are going to have to document our findings, but we are able to do that on our own using the book. I think she said we had to turn it in within the next few days.

when you did each test, did you have to literally say what test you're doing?? Like.. "and now i'm going to do the whisper test.. which is..." or could you just say, " now i'm going to stand behind you and whisper a few words, and then you repeat them back to me..."

Did you girls in Marietta have as much fun in your isolation dress up as we did? :smokin:
