GHC Fall Semester 2009

Published

GHC fall semester is going great! Lots and lots of fun. How do you guys in Marietta like your instructors?

Ash & TNS - start reading your Fundamentals book and Assessment book. Read read read. Learn all the med terms and memorize the symbols & abbreviations list - also, work on clinical calcs ; ). Happy reading!! P.S. You do NOT need to buy an access code for The Neighborhood. We all paid $70 for it and have not used it once. If you want to look at it, I will give you my login info - it was a total waste of money!

If you get through all that, open your pharmacology book and study respiratory, cardiac, antiinfectives, and antiinflammatory meds!

great advice! thanks

Have not been on in awhile. Congrats PreRN Ashley and tns!!! I am so glad classes are over until January.

hello all! For all of you who are interested in becoming midwives or labor and delivery nurses....i had my baby! and he weighed....::drum roll:: 10.7 lbs. are your eyes huge, lol, because mine were. yay! now to work off my disgusting baby weight.ewwie. i hope yall had a great semester. good luck on finals.

Thanks and :ancong!:

Congratulations TNS and Ashley on getting in for Spring 2010.

Congratulations Ashley on your baby!!!!!

The advice given before is exactly what I would say also. Read your fundamentals book and start looking over the cardiac/abdominal/respiratory assessments in your Health Assessment textbook. I would learn as much of the medical terminology as I could before classes start. That will be one less thing that you have to worry about when it comes test time.

(I'm really hoping that they don't make us do The Neighborhood again next semester. It was totally lame and a waste of money.

Thanks girls! I just got allmy books off of Amazon, pretty excited. Except my fundamentals book has pages that are thin like bible pages...other than that im super excited to get a head start. You have to let me know how clinicals go, thats the best part.

My clinicals so far have been an absolute blast! I can't wait for next semester. You will be fine. It just takes patience and dedication.

i was wondering if someone could tell me what the schedule at highlands is like now?

ashley, if you're wondering about spring semester in rome, the secretary said "tentatively" tue 9-12, wed 9-12 & 1-4,

thurs 9-12, & fri online. hope that helps!

Thanks rooners! How are you? I called to get the tentative shcedule for daycare questions, and she wouldnt give it to me...lucky you. Maybe you have a sweeter voice, i probably sound like a little kid. Thats a very doable scedule, except i kinda think we need two long days. Wow, thats going to be a lot of information in only a little time. I better start studying more. Have you read anything yet. Ive read a lot in the assessment book, but its so hard to read in the boring fundamentals book. didnt you have surgery? I hope your doing well. Maybe you told me your going on vacation. Im losing it. Thanks for the reply.

ashley, i emailed secretary - if she has the information, she is ALWAYS willing to help. i always try her first if i have any general nursing questions. it's too bad you have to repeat everything since you've done this all before. it would be nice if you had the clinicals just to make up. i've been trying to read some from the assessment book, but always seem to find other things to do around the house. i need to look at the clinical calc book and maybe refresh on some med term. i know we're going to get slammed once the semester starts. how is caring for baby #3? i'm sure things are hectic for you, especially with the holidays. hopefully you have a lot of help!!

yes, i had wrist surgery (ligament reconstruction) on nov 2 and have been in a removable cast ever since. i go back dec 23 to have the pins taken out and scar tissue broken up. can't wait!! wish orientation wasn't mandatory since i just went in august...oh, well. hopefully see you there!!
