Getting a C in Anatomy :(

Published

At this point the highest grade I can get is B, and my teacher doesn't like me :( And I'm having car problems :((((

Listen, things happen. I know some comments have been positive, but I think one test screw up does not merit walking away from your dreams of becoming a nurse nor does it mean that you need to grow a thicker skin. Sometimes, people screw up. We need to foster a healthy environment for people to learn when they do wrong.

My advice is to work with your professor, academic advisor, and/or TA, to determine how to recover from that test, if it is possible. I wouldn't freak out, until you get sufficient answers from at least one of those people. Next, I'd work on your test taking habits, so you double check that you filled in every bubble or answered everything otherwise. Make sure you do that for every test. Even saying, "Ok, I filled in everything," silently to yourself will do wonders. Good luck!

She's being told that because of her very inappropriate response to another member's post that she didn't like. I know you can't see what that response was because it has been edited and removed by an admin, but I just wanted to point out there is a reason we are telling her that.

i say this in a nice way but you just have to suck it up. I have a 4.0 with three kids and I work, you can do it. I gave birth to my third child last year during the semester and had severe PPD but I had to force myself to hold it together until the end of the semester. It's not my school's fault I was having problems and I don't expect to be coddled. You have to have laser focus and be all in or you will never graduate. Good luck.

Is it going to matter after this semester whether the teacher liked you or not? It won't. Would have been nice, for any needed letters of recommendation, but hopefully you work on making a good impression with your other teachers. If you aren't maybe you should do some self reflection and find out what the trouble really is because teacher recommendations can come in really handy it also speaks for your credibility if you ever are in a situation where a teacher really is unfairly treating you.

Anyway my point is one teacher not liking you: shrug it off and keep working, you are wasting so much energy stressing about this instead of studying to improve your A&P grade. Think about more conducive ways to study. Like for me I love drawing everything out. You are going to need to find a way to study with lower stress for your future nursing classes.

OMG you write like me!!!

And thank you for the encouragement. Your totally right, I'm wasting valuable time and energy I could spend on something else.

You've got a lot to learn and a lot of growing up to do before you get into the nursing program.

keep studying, it doesn't matter if your teacher likes you or not just remember they cannot change your grade based on their opinion of you, I had one professor who was not my biggest fan but I still got a good grade in the class because she could have a problem with me but not my work as long as I did it right. try carpooling, uber/ taxi, bus, bike it will be a pain but try and be in class as much as possible

That is a better picture of heart anatomy than I see most of the cardiologists draw! You are an artist!

Haha thank you! It helps me really understand it better whatever I draw out.

Thank you for the uplifting posts you guys. I appreciate it.

I will try harder.

I was very nervous for a test and ended up missing 2 pages of questions, which is why my grade dropped from an A to a C (this is the second exam)

But thank you guys for the encouragement, I will keep trucking along.

After reading through a few of your recent posts, I'm seeing a pattern of anxiety. The pre reqs are hard, there is a lot of pressure to do well, and all the while you still have to somehow still manage your life.

I mean this in all sincerity: seeing a doctor may be beneficial if you are determined to continue pursing nursing, because it just gets harder. And when you struggle to control your emotions and anxiety, it just makes a huge mess, which often results in lower grades.

You are anxious about whether or not your friends are jealous, you are anxious about your teacher's chosen testing-style, you are anxious about the amount of material you need to learn for A&P, and you are anxious about whether or not your teacher likes you. That's a lot to juggle. I really think you should seek help outside of AllNurses, and I'm saying this as a student who has ADD and can relate to feeling out of control.

Best wishes.

I learned to use ways to relax me. Like meditation, music, and always have some down time once a week (TV, movie, friend, out for lunch, etc). And I can't drink caffeinated beverages.

My teacher also suggested to anyone in the class who has test anxiety to take a regular strength tylenol because it takes the edge off, but see how you react first.

I can go from 0 to 100 pretty fast. I'm working on my reactions. Writing a diary can help identify anxiety or something and help you check yourself for next time!

Edit: LOL actually coming on allnurses when I need a study break helps me gather my thoughts too.
