Appeared in NCLEX yesterday.. got about 8+SATA (lost count after 6).. 2 audio.. 1 picture.. 1 dosage calculation.. prioritization (which would you assess FIRST?).. very few delegation questions (those are EASY).. infection control (mneumonics REALLY help)... pharmacology (involving known drugs).. BUT i found myself guessing most of the exam.. I used to ALWAYS end up with 2 possible answers..Came out and checked PV to re-register 30 minutes later- Got the good pop up..
:clpty:
So I hope this trick works for me TOO.. in fact, the only one answer i was sure about was dosage calculation.. i am an "average student".. but i prepared for NCLEX in 14 days studying for 12hrs everyday.. i did have many distractions (facebook, twitter, iPhone games, music etc).. i used my ATI books as well online ATI web resources + Saunders iPhone app wid 1000+ questions ($30) + NCLEX Quiz Card System App on iPhone wid 3500 questions ($4 only).. THESE APPS WERE VERY GOOD FOR REVIEWING QUESTIONS esp the latter.. $4 for 3500 questions Buy them if you have the time.. they both give rationales along wid their answers!! last but definitely not the least: allnurses.com
:lvan:
i have NEVER gotten such support.. 5 days ago i almost had a panick attack..and you guys helped.. (and you are FAST).. I did calm down... refocused..and moved on!! On the day of the test, i had prepared myself to appear in ALL of the 200+ questions in 6hrs..But i was secretly praying for the computer to shut off at 75..which by the way, IT DID!! Otherwise i wud have grown anxious and did something Stupid at the testing center! JK :throcomp:
I really had hoped NCLEX would be HIGH LEVEL in difficulty but it was the WEIRDEST exam i have ever given...i think its clearly "OVERHYPED" .. i had read about each and every item that was on the test..BUT i NEVER paid much attention to those "little things" and guess wat? NCLEX made questions on those "little things" in a twisted manner.. YEAHH! That's how it was.. so it was not Difficult at all... you WOULD have encountered these things almost everyday as nursing students BUT didnt really think much of it.. ahemmm.. Yeah its called CRITICAL THINKING!! And thats what NCLEX was all about.. some questions were VERY SIMILAR to those which i practised! so yeah, definitely practice as many as u can..This helped me to be comfortable and confident in exam..BTW i have no idea how's LaCharity, Saunders Book, Kaplan and Exam Cram coz i didnt use any of them..my point is you would not come out and say- "I knew everything on NCLEX coz i used all those books and i am SURE i got this".. (Disclaimer: If u DID come out feeling like u've won the battle then you are AWESOME.. :bowingpur: lol) So future nurses.. good luck studying for NCLEX... BE CONFIDENT and remember STAY CALM.. Mentally prepare yourself too and for those who made it... :ancong!:
Now i am gonna go and stare at PVT good pop up once again and make sure its still there!! :dncgbby:

took NCLEX today and got the good pop-up! after 18 long, hard months of school, 3.5 wks of pretty hard-core review, it is finally over!
studied saunders, reviewed questions/answers on the CD, memorized lab values and the mneumonics for infection control (MrsWee, MyChickenHeZTB, SPIDERMAN), mazlow, ABC, know priorities, know priorities...oh, and did I say to KNOW PRIORITIES! several questions on parkinson's meds.
had several questions on reflexes! but a gal from my class had none! there was a question or two on reflexes I had never heard of or were different from what I remembered. only a question or two on OB, several calculations, a couple of questions on subject matter I had never heard of, few Peds.
in order to answer those, I had to really look hard at the choices and thru a process of deduction, choose the answer.
in any case, it's over and now I am (un)officially a ! yee haaaa.....

mcm2, i also took the NCLEX (PN version though), yesterday Sept. 23rd....and have been getting the "good" popup ever since.....i pray that this is correct, but the entire exam, i seriously felt like i knew NOTHING!....there were some ??'s that i knew right away, but i had quite a few SATA's, prioritizing, drag and drop and hot spots.....not to mention meds that i never even heard of....AND my test shut off at 85 questions (the minimum for PN)!...My confidence was SHOT after that test ....I really, really, really hope that the "good" popup is correct!!:)
