Starting WGU RN to BSN program August 1st

I did a LOT for maths because I was SCARED! I graduated High school 12 yrs ago!! I took maths first because I knew I won't be able to focus on anything else with maths in the background! I did EVERYTHING listed in the Lab! At the start of each topic, for example, trigonometry- I first did the recommended homework- even if you don't know how to answer a question - it would tell you what resources to look into! Do practice with "Show similar examples"... Learn strategies to answer tough questions- there are only a few in the entire course (even though they say you cannot LEARN maths.. You just Do It) I even googled for outside resources (YouTube?) if my brain froze from what was in front of me! Once I mastered the trigonometry homework, I took the tests listed for it- there are 2.. When you score 80% give yourself a pat on the back and move to the next topic! It took me a lot of time- I am a Fulltime student though. whenever you are stuck contact the course mentor or communities or even here! I'll try my best to explain it, hehe! YOU CAN DO IT! We all can! It's just maths Good Luck

Yessss.. I am enrolled officially to start on August 1.. No sign of transcripts being evaluated yet though! How can you do so? I mean be enrolled and not know what you are starting out with- core nursing courses or pre-reqs? Kinda confusing! Have you guys paid already? Did Shawn talk to you about that yet? No mention of my immunization being missing yet too! :)

Same here, I also have an ADN from CA! My Transcripts haven't been evaluated so I don't know yet! Anyone from CA? Are immunizations required for RN to BSN? I know they require it for prelicensure! Anyone know? If yes then that's missing from my list of things to do!! I just want to start this ASAP. Hoping to get it done within 6months! I am that desperate

In LTC as a float RN

I don't like Nursing homes. Worked in 2.. Heard from nurses here.. Well 70-80% are not happy with the care we provide! My license is 1 year old & while I took that oath I promised to be the best nurse that I could! Sadly, this is not the case! Hospitals don't want me because I only have ADN and 8months of experience at Nursing homes. I was bright as a student nurse. Was taught the best to be the best! And then the reality hit me. I am depressed to the point I want to leave nursing profession. I have been working every shift Am, PM & NOCs in the past one month! My body clock is messed up. I barely get 4 hrs of sleep each night. My work is 100 miles away (each day). I get about 30 patients. Each day.. I repeat EACH DAY I work I find an error in the MAR! And I am not even talking about OTCs, eye drops etc. I am talking Narcotics. If I send out a patient to ER because she is "lethargic" & just doesn't look right, I am looked down upon by the DON/ supervisor! He commented -" it is You right? You are jinxed one".. He made this comment while my patient was seizing (generalized) & the family was crying hysterically in the same room. Of course my DON was just kidding because I could see him laughing while pointing at me! IT WAS EMBARASSING! I am enrolling in online BSN soon and I will be quitting this job because it is so stressful. We switched to online MARs recently so med pass is timed. I have 30 residents and I am a float nurse. It takes me a while to "look" thoroughly at the MAR but I am expected to get it done in 2 hrs with not only families, doctors, labs, physical therapists but also a few Psych- Patients hovering around. In hospitals where I was trained, NO ONE was allowed to distract the nurse doing med pass (except in emergencies)! Also did I mention we are not allowed Overtime. So nurses- both new and old clock out and finish their work! This is California. There is no nurse union. If you decide to not clock out, you get yelled at. The whole environment is TOXIC & discouraging! They have 80% employees of the SAME RACE! Where is equality. My 50% alert & oriented residents complain that they cannot make a nurse aware of their needs because "nurses don't know English here".. DON is from the same country as well so she is biased towards them while others are laughed at! I have seen it happen to a new grad, very sweet Japanese nurse. She was mocked at when she called the facility! How comforting is it to know that your co-workers make fun of nurses who are not of the same race as you are? Please do it but in the privacy of break rooms etc. My supervisors have refused to help me stating - "oh I am busy with admissions or da da da".. There are SO many issues here that I pray to lord everyday for not putting me in a situation where my license is jeopardized! I am SCARED to go to work! It's 1 am now and I will try to catch a couple of hours of sleep before I go to the circus again! I am just venting! I am sorry! I may have not "written" it professionally for all you "experienced" nurses but this is what I AM going through & this is how I am putting it! Thanks for reading! Good morning & good night :)

    Clocking out ..NO Overtime

Same at my SNF, it's just too much in 8hrs! I work with 20-30 patients/residents everyday! And lately DON got in trouble because some "new" nurses (including me) were not clocking out and working off clock (like the older nurses do). I heard her SCREAMING in the office guys! Does that intimidate ME? No- coz I know what others are doing is illegal! I see 98% of them give report, clock out and stay 2-3 hrs more to finish their work! They are all SCARED they'll lose their jobs! They are soooo very nice nd sweet old nurses (I am new & 24) who deserve respect & their overtime pay! But they clock out and work coz they've done this FOR YEARS since they've been here! I am a fighter & I want to "save" them! One of them even remarked -"you know I feel like crying myself to sleep when I go to bed because of my job".. It broke my heart that these nurses give their ALL and still the DON and administrator treats all of them like that! This SNF is a successful business due to them but what can I do? I have made it clear that I am not gonna "follow the norm & clock out". The ADON called me to her office and tried to coax me verbally into clocking out but I told her "it's illegal". And she went quiet! They've paid me overtime without doubt BUT I am afraid this will be a strong reason for them to get rid of me in the future! I feel like I am walking on thin ice everyday I work there! I NEED A NEW JOB!

    ever think you are jinxed

I work at a SNF (nursing home) but it feels more like an acute med-surg floor! Our little facility is for profit & the administrators don't like us if we send patients out to ER (coz they are gonna lose the money + it looks bad on the nursing home). There is a certain limit (number) of patients that we can send out to ER! So, long story short, end week of may.. We are already over the limit.. I m a floater.. AKA don't know wats the norm for these people... Sent a woman out cause she looked lethargic (history of stroke)... And the very next day,. Sent out another one coz she had BAD seizing episodes (no history of seizures). Both got admitted at ER! While I was sending the 2nd one out, assistant-DON walks up to me & stated- "It's you, isn't it? You are jinxed".. And then she laughed.. With the family of the seizing patient (crying) still in room! *me embarassed*
