Gerontology....Who has or is taking this class soon???

Who's taking it winter 2? Have you gotten your book? Are you buying or renting?

Thanks for the replies. Yes...my last class there were spelling/grammar/typo errors in a TEST of all things.

I got the bad boy assignment completed and submitted.

Our assignment asked for two to three well developed paragraphs for each question.

I ended up with three for each question.

I tend to do more work then I have to.

I have 3 paragraphs for the 1st 2 questions and 5 for the last question (that question is worth 20 points). I have 8 references and my total paper is 6 pages (7 with the reference page).

If the assignment is the same in your section as it is mine, you are filling in answers on a formatted Word document, so there is no need for a title page or running head. Just use APA format in your response: No contractions and proper citations with a reference at the end, ya di ya da . . .

One of my big complaints about most of the TA's in this program is that they often don't provide clear instructions. In my section for example, the TA put out an "APA Tips" sheet this week, which is helpful, but did not make clear that not all of the tips were applicable to this week's assignment. It is also incredibly annoying that this is the second class I've taken in which the written instructions say In all likelihood, the the TA meant to use "referred" and the auto correct put in the wrong word. The point is that it's the same kind of error students would loose points for and tells me that the TA is either too busy or too lazy to proofread their own documents.

I'm about halfway done with this assignment. The first question is done and has 3 paragraphs. So far, I have 5 references, 2 of them are "refereed". The first assignment is always the hardest because you do not know what the TA will pick on.

Refereed is the proper use of the term. It means to be peer reviewed. Like a referee at a ball game who is overlooking the play.

Peer review is overlooking...or refereering the paper. Therefore, it is a refereed paper by peers who have determined that the information is valid.

The reason for peer review is to assure the acuarcy of what is being said. The information must be evidence based and not just someone's idea of what they think the right answer or statement to be. It has to come from scientific basis. Otherwise, it would just be a bunch of opinions like we have on threads and forums.

I used national institute on aging, department of health and human services administration on aging, and national gerontological nurse association websites. I still have not written anything!!!
