I will be tackling this class starting on August 27th.Anyone else enrolled?

Specializes in Long term care.
I received my textbook today for this class, and wow, it was in TERRIBLE shape. There was highlighting in it everywhere!! I can handle a little bit of it but not this much. I am very unhappy about this, so I emailed Amazon back (I guess they just started doing textbook rentals) and reported it; I don't want to get blamed for all this highlighting lol.

I bet it is a sign from the BSN Gods that this class will be a lot of work :uhoh21:

Specializes in Med/Surg, Neuro, ICU, travel RN, Psych.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

Thank you!

Does anyone have any experience with using blackboard? If you have any tips on navigating it, please psot them! Do we need the McGraw-Hill Connnect or is it just a nice to have?

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Well, I just kind of jumped in and navigated around it first. I didn't bother to read the instructions on Blackboard before I even did that. I did later on, and it does give a good thorough explanation on how to use it. I have never used the McGraw-Hill Connect, I saw it on there but never bothered with it. In fact, right before I posted this I went to the site just to figure out what on earth it's for lol :)

I'm also enrolled!

Bummer :(

I was VERY happy to find the ebook. I much prefer etextbooks!

So UPS lost my book for this class. The place I rented it from is going to replace it and expedite the delivery but due to the holiday weekend, I won't have it until next week. Are the chapters pertinent to this weeks assignments? From what I can see, I should be able to get the work done without the book, but not being able to read it I can't be sure. Think I'll be ok?

I think you'll be ok. It was an easy 21 page read -- but needed for citing in the discussions. How'd you do the assignments? Two journal articles?

Is everyone doing the max of five pages for this first paper? The two weeks off between classes killed me! I have no motivation to do anything for this class.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

I was planning 3 pages but I'm up to 4 already. I still need to add a little more so it will end up being 5. I'm not that motivated either and I took the whole summer off. Hoping to finish up today, i have to work tomorrow and have a family gathering on Sunday.

So most of this paper is pretty easy and self explanatory. But is anyone else confused at all with what they want from the research? Are you just researching things about the limitations? I'm not quite getting that part and am having trouble figuring out what to look for. Any tips?

I thought we are looking for evidence-based research to show how we would help someone who was having the problems we encountered with our self-imposed limitations. consultgerirn.org has a lot of great info that is free. Does anyone have any oither free sites they are using?
