Gerontologic Nursing (Fall 2012)-NRSE 4560
I think you'll be ok. It was an easy 21 page read -- but needed for citing in the discussions. How'd you do the assignments? Two journal articles?

Looking into Spartanburg Community College
Hi KYNurse As a recent graduate of the ADN Program, I am happy to share what I know based on my application and past experiences. Congrats on the move! I would suggest that you complete your prereqs before applying....and/or apply when you are in enrolled in your microclass. As far as I know, you need to complete AP2 before taking Micro, although some students have been able to enroll in AP2 AND Micro in the same semester with special permission from the Science Dept Head. SCC has fall and spring enrollment periods for the ADN program with no waiting list (BONUS!) or carry overs. I dont remember what the point average is for acceptance; I had an overall 42 points out of 46 or 49, whereas someone I knew in the program said that they had 30 or something. (But they also had 14 yrs of experience in a health profession too... go figure..) And btw, YES! your CNA counts as previous healthcare experience and will help you with an additional 6 points I think. (Again, its been a while since I last saw that sheet, but I do know it was an absolute help to have it.) You can do your research on AHS 102 and 104 through the school's online catalog via the website sccsc.edu. Good luck with the move, and the applications and all of that. Please, contact me if you have any additional questions.

just took Nclex
Hi there, and congrats on coming this far! My test shut off at 75 as well and I had NO clue if the questions were high levels or not. I just took each one,...one at a time and did the best that I could. I had one "put steps in order" question, and one math question...and I remember the feeling I had when the computer shut off. I also checked pearsonvue every hour on the hour for the first 46 hours, only to find out that the results are available for review 48 hours AFTER THE COMPLETION of your testing time. I had a friend tell me to try to go to pearson and do the cheat method to see if I passed or not. The trick is - and I didnt do it, I was too scared to look...lol. Is to sign onto the website, enter your password, go to your account and try to re-register for the test. It'll make you select your test, your school, your program..etc..and bring you all the way to a payment screen. Rumor has it that if it gives you an error msg saying: you've already taken this test -- you've passed and the system wont let you register again. If it allows you to enter your credit card information, its probably that your were unsuccessful. All in all, nothing beats the 2 day wait, and the confirmation when you see the words Passed! good luck. I hope all goes well with you.

Tuition assistance?
Hey there, I'm not familiar with any of the Greenville programs, but I attend a similar program at SCC in Spartanburg and every semester that I've taken so far as been listed at 10, 11 credit hours (although there are weeks that I'm in class settings for 20 physicial hours for labs, etc). If Clemson pays for 6, that means you'd have to come up with 5 credits (which hopefully, Financial aid can help you with since it is "part-time." The program does demand alot of attention, and I dont know how that would work with your working schedule, but thats just a thought. :typing

Med Math Help (IV Calculations)
hey there, here's what i got for the first two parts of #1: you are asked to solve for gtt/min so you organize your equations so that you have gtts on the top, and minutes on the bottom. the ml's will cancel in just a moment. take a look: 60 gtt x 50 mls ----- ------- ml 40 mins ml's cancel and you get (60gtts * 50)/40 minutes = 3000/40 = 75 gtt/min ok, now you're asked to solve for ml/hour but you need to convert your minutes into hours by using a conversion factor of 60 mins = 1 hour. this way you'll get your "hour" on the bottom of the equation. so here we go: you see in the question that you have 50 mls to give in 40 minutes. so set it up: 50 ml ------ 40 mins then insert your converstion factor 50 ml x 60 mins ----- --------- 40 min 1 hour minutes will cancel and you get (50 ml*60)/(40*1) = 3000ml/40mins = 75 ml/hour. ps, just a tip, gtt/min is equal to ml/hour. couldnt remember how to solve the vtbi....i had a shortcut, but forgot it. hope that helps.

Spartanburg Community College
Hi! Congrats on getting in the program. I know that you'll love it. Each of my teachers last semester gave me special insight as to what it means to be a nurse, and how to work towards that goal. I think the best part is that they (the instructors) try to get your brain into thinking as a nurse from the very beginning. You will see that nurses are not just robotic puppets that perform a skill when asked, but are an independent critical thinker who is constantly assessing and analyzing (his)/her decisions. We have just one more week to go. I'll see you in the hallways soon. *GRIN*

I havent received my information packet yet; the one that details what courses come first and how many hours and all that, but I know it's soon to come after the CBC and the testing. Anyword on your status?

Man Oh Man, I'm SO glad you're here on this board and posting! I'm entering the program in the Fall, and I have NO idea what to expect. During which semester do you start clinicals? The first? or the Second? And what did you do about your working/living situation your first semester. I cant seem to get any information from anyone so far. Thanks so much!
