  1. How many other schools have you guys applied to?

Hi future nurses and any current nurses!

I applied for spring 2019 about 2-3 weeks ago. It already feels like I've been waiting for ages, though!

I'm curious about what you all's admission stats are (GPA, TEAS, how many pre reqs you've taken, etc.) Here's my stats...

General Ed GPA: 4.0

Science GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 78

I've taken 8 out of 12 of the required prerequisites.

Also, how many programs have you guys applied to? I only applied to this one, sadly. So, I'm wishing on a constellation that i get in. :roflmao:

I'm excited to virtually bond with you guys and share our (hopefully) positive results!

From the information session that Renee Creel gave, she said that they only use the core classes to calculate your overall GPA. I was having the same argument in my head lol because I already have a bachelor's degree...so my ACTUAL overall GPA is a 3.25, but my core classes GPA is a 3.7. So you can see how that makes a huge difference! So from what she said in the session, they look at 3 things...1) Core GPA, 2) Science GPA, and 3) TEAS score...with particular focus on Math and Reading. Not sure why those two are more important than the other two, but that's what she said. Plus for the TEAS she said that they also look at the number of times that you've taken the TEAS. I guess a lot of people will take it a 2nd time if they weren't satisfied with their scores the first time, but the way she said it, it sounded to me like it looks better if you've only taken it once. She also said that, based on last year's applicants, to be competitive you need at least a 3.0 GPA for both Core and Science, and a TEAS score of at least 69. So going off of that information my stats would be as follows:

Core GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 3.75

TEAS: 84

-Reading: 83

-Math: 84.4

-Science: 78.7

-English & Language: 100

Hope this information was helpful!

Hi! Thanks so much for the info. I completely forgot everything at the information session. My GPA is fine so far, but I'm a bit worried about my TEAS score (specifically, the Math). I did not study much for it but went ahead because I had paid &scheduled so far in advance. I planned to retake it. However, the head of nursing said I do not need to retake, so I'm leaning heavily upon her good judgement. From the stats on this thread, I just may be OK. Although, I'm not sure about that "60 out of 300" acceptance rate, especially if others (not on thread) have really high TEAS scores. Also, I'm doing Micro this semester, PHED, and RSCH, so there's always the possibility that my GPA may fall some. I'm so nervous! I really want to get in. I really need to get in! Yet, if I do not, my back up plan is the longer route, to finish prerequisites required for bachelors program and apply to various institutions.

Overall GPA: 4.0

Science: GPA 4.0

TEAS: 83.3

-Reading: 91.5

-Math: 78.1

-Reading 91.5

-Science 74.5

-English & Language: 100

You're most welcome! First of all...your scores are very similar to mine. My GPA is a little bit less, but all I have left to take is PHED and RSCH, which I am doing as mini-mester this Fall (or should I say like 2 days from now lol) We could probably end up helping each other in those classes if they turn out to hard (according to a friend that just took them, they are kinda joke classes which I sincerely I hope is true after my last semester) But each of those are only 1 credit hour, so your GPA won't be affected that much one way or the other. I took Micro over the summer and it was the biggest mistake I have ever made in school. Not because it was hard, but because the teacher was a COMPLETE MORON! I have never had such a horrible teacher/school experience in my life...but let's put it this way...I ended up losing my job for falling asleep because I was trying so hard to do well in her class (only because I know the science classes are important) and I barely ended up with a B. Needless to say, I am incredibly pissed about the whole situation. But enough of that. Regarding the TEAS, do NOT take it again!!! 83.3 is a GREAT score. I know it doesn't seem like it when you are used to making A's, but the national average is like a 65...so a 70 is considered a "good" score. I made an 84 and I talked to a bunch of my nurse friends/did some research and an 84 is considered a "great" score and apparently indicates that we are "advanced" when it comes to preparation (which is apparently what the test is for...who knows lol). But definitely don't take it again! Renee made it very clear that taking it more than once is acceptable by some standards, but during that info session she really made it seem like they put a lot of stake into how many times you take it. And girl if you don't get in with those scores, then I'm definitely screwed! And trust me I NEED to get in too! Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns and I'll help any way that I can :) We gotta stick together during these rough times (i.e. having to wait another month to find anything out!)

Yes! We definitely need to stick together. I tried to private message you for that professor's name :-) (I'm pretty sure we can't name names on here) but private message function is not available to me. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I had a great professor for both A&P I and II. There was a massive amount of work to stay on top of and sometimes I felt like I was drowning trying to keep up but he always answered any and every question and was available for tutoring or any topic we were struggling with. He also gave extra credit opportunities and extensions for the weekly exams and Mastering homework. I made 97% in both of his classes. We had to work hard for out grades, but he truly taught us how to "think", not just memorize. I can't imagine what it would have been like with a bad professor, but I guess in preparing ourselves for the future, that is always a possibility. I have a different professor for Micro lecture, so we'll see how I fare. I'm on Facebook profile name "Ayesha Beasley".

Ayesha,

I did look you up on Facebook...and I think I found you lol. I sent a private message, but not sure if it was you haha. If you want to find me, I believe I am the very first one the pops up when you search Rebecca Reagan. But yes...it definitely sucks! And here's why I can tell you that it had nothing to do with me...I also got A's in all four classes for A&P 1 and 2, but I took them both as mini-mesters (i.e. 8 weeks for each)! And if I can ace those classes, with all of that information, in only 8 weeks...Micro should have been a breeze! Plus I made an A in Micro Lab, so I definitely understood the material, but there was such a ridiculous disconnect between the material and her assignments...lol I've never seen anything like it! And I already have 1 Bachelor's degree, so this is not my first rodeo lol

Wow! That's impressive. I really cannot imagine doing those classes as mini-mesters. Great Job! I'm a non-traditional student and I feel like I'm at a disadvantage because of my age (40+). I really hope I can keep up with the work load (if I get accepted). I've become a little addicted to this forum and reading some of the posts regarding how incredibly hard nursing school is---has me a bit nervous.

Did y'all look up the professors first on ratemyprofessor? I had a pretty good micro teacher. It was all online, so I mostly just self-taught, but the material and the assignments were just fine. I'm doing AP1 this fall and it seems like gives us a lot of work, but will be manageable as long as I don't get behind. I'm applying for the Fall 2019 cohort, but I love seeing the posts from people a little ahead of me trying to get in! Good luck to you guys!

Hey everyone! Okay I exchanged emails with Renee about a month back and she mentioned that I would hear back about admission no later than September 30th, I wanted to know if that is normal for Spring admission. for anyone that has applied before or has heard the same thing from her. Thank you :)

Hi there. From reading the previous semesters's hubub (check the forum for Spring 2018, last 2 pages or so), letters can go out well into October.

Yea I think letters are actually mailed out on September 30th, so within the 1st couple of days maybe.

Hey fellow applicants,

They already started sending admission letters, and I did not get in. Watch your mailboxes, and congratulations to everyone who made it.

Hey Guys, Yes acceptance letters are being sent out. I received mine today. Hope to see others in this forum in January.

Here are my stats:

TEAS:75%

Science GPA 4.0

Nursing Education GPA:3.2

I also am a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Best of luck to everyone!!
