Oh I know how you feel! How did you do on the TEAS?

I am retaking because I have to get my science grade up!

and how did you do in your 3 sciences?

On my TEAS I got a 78.67 and I have 2A’s in the sciences and I am in a&p2 now so hopefully o will maintain my A.

I made a C in A&P1, A in A&P 2 (way more exciting), and a B in micro. I also made a 78.7 on my TEAS. I also googled a old copy of the worksheet for ga highlands because I was still confused but at least it gave me a understanding on how they did score students. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, they look at your individual scores from each section. I think that the old sheet floating around only shows math and science, but who knows. They say all sections now. They look at the overall GPA from the core classes required for admission. Also, they require you to have your CNA license, but if you applied you probably already know that. Good luck!

Today is the day...the deadline anyway. Good luck everyone. The world sure looks different today than what we thought it would look like when we planned this journey, and it's a tricky time to be entering healthcare for sure. Here's to hoping that everyone that is applying already has their TEAS score in (more than likely going to be extended), and all this covid-19 gets figured out long before we enter a clinical.

Does anyone know when we should hear back? Also does anyone know how many applicants they admit?

Who knows with the covid-19 situation. Before, it was going to be the first week of June. Should admit at least 60, but they mentioned in the info session that they would like to admit up to 80 depending on if more staff is hired.

Hey Guys!

I'm a current nursing student in the class of 2021! I applied last year and was in the same boat you guys are in haha. I thought I'd pop in to hopefully answer some of the questions you may have. Good luck to you all!

Thanks! Do you recommend taking nurs1000 prior to admission (this Summer) or is it light enough to take with other nursing classes?

I'm also considering a BSN elective (Ethics in Healthcare), but part of me is thinking I should enjoy that Summer break before diving in.

How has covid impacted classes/clinicals and is it as tough as you thought going in?

Thank you so much for coming in and sharing your knowledge! I have been dying to talk to a current student! I agree with all the questions said above!

I also wanted to know if you could give us some in-site on the Keys to Success what happens that day. Do you know when we would get our schedule and know the days we take our classes?

Also any info you can give us about the classes, how do you prep and study, and study material etc that you recommend we get. Etc

Hey,

When we started we didn't know about taking nurs 1000 prior to admission so we had to take it with nurs 1001 and nurs 1100. It's manageable it's not a hard class at all. If your already taking Summer courses I would say to take it along with those just to knock it out, but if it's the only Summer course your taking I would say to wait so your not paying Summer tuition for that one course. That also goes for your BSN elective if you want to knock it out go for it.

OMG where do I even begin with covid haha. It definitely impacted us, but we're getting through it. We have online class through zoom which has it's ups and downs. We're in class for the same amount of time and go through the material as we would in class. We had to use a program called I-human to complete our clinical hours which is a software with a patient and a diagnosis and we had to do all the things we would normally due in clinical (assessments, nurse notes, vitals, etc.). Our labs were also impacted and we had to do those through zoom as well. Overall we still got everything completed for the semester and now we're gearing up for the final. We don't have to make anything up and we're all set for second year!

Hi and thank you for giving us so much Information. I do have one question are the semesters consecutive? I see a lot of schools don't allow students to take nursing courses during the Summer is this the case here as well.

Hey!

Keys to success was a very interesting day LOL. You will get a TON of information and it may seem very overwhelming, but it will help you overall. We had ours at Heritage Hall in the annex and you'll sit there and meet most of the professors. You might also meet counselors, and librarians, and some other people briefly. They'll talk about all the things you need to complete before the semester begins (make sure your shots are up to date, insurance, etc.) Then they'll take you through what your two years will look like by semester. They'll talk about uniforms and clinical, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Bring a pencil and paper and write stuff down so you don't forget. They'll also give you handouts to take with you.

If I remember correctly we got our schedule at the beginning of August before classes began. Class days are typically on Tue, Wed, and Thur, but it varies per week (because of sim labs, and clinicals) so don't take those as set days they really do vary. Sometimes we are there twice a week, sometimes it's everyday, and sometimes we don't show up that week.

Regarding classes, Nurs 1000 is a really easy course. It's online and won't take much of your time. You'll have discussion posts and online tests. It's not really anything to stress about. Nurs 1001 is a fun course. It's where you'll learn all of your assessments. Dr. Stover is predominately over that course and she is fantastic. She will give you all the tools you need to know to do well on that test. Pay attention to what she says you need to know and you will do fine. Nurs 1100 is a trickier course because multiple professors will teach a different concept and each professor has their own testing strategies. Some you could study off of the powerpoint alone, some will bold the important info, some will go off the powerpoint and the book. I would say do practice questions on the specific topics to help you see how questions are asked and what topics are covered and go from there. We had a second year mentor for us and they really helped us in regards to our test. We are in the works of being yall's mentor so when it comes closer to time we can further help you with testing

Hey no problem!

They don't teach in the Summer because most of them work and take time off in the Summer. But I know you can take Nurs 1000 and your BSN electives in the Summer!
